  1. Thank you for the work and effort. It was very impressive.
  2. I agree as well, a TrackIR or any homebrewed head tracking solution is what makes or breakes a good controller set-up. All I wanted to do this this post was to encourage players to give the game a try even if all they have is a 30 dollar joystick. I have no doubt that playing this Sim with a real HOTAS stick is great but for some of us that just isn't an option for whatever reasons. Cheers.
  3. Howdy, This post is mostly for people who own the Sim and don't play a lot or at all because they lack a true HOTAS setup for their computer or for people who are interested in this sim but don't want to purchase expensive hardware. I am currently playing this game with a simple Logitech 3D Extreme Pro, TrackIR5 a mouse and a keyboard and it's not bad. I will not tell you that you will not enjoy this game more with better hardware, I just want to tell you that it's possible to play AND enjoy DCS A-10 with low budget hardware. Here is how my set-up works. Obviously I use my track IR to look around the cockpit and zoom in and out (leaning forward and backward). Since I use a TrackIR I freed the 1 PoV switch that my Joystick has and I assigned keyboard keys as shift keys in combination with my PoV hat. For Example: My TMS, DMS switch and my china hat all work of my PoV hat switch, I use X,Z and C as shift keys. All I had to do was to memorize those keys and I can fly without constantly having to glance at my keyboard. I hope this makes sense. I have mapped Speedbreaks, NVG's and CMS switch forward and aft to the 8 buttons located next to the stick. I've assigned all important functions of the Airplane and HOTAS this way, most in combination with my 1 PoV hat switch and it's fairly easy to fly, I hardly ever even look at my keyboard anymore. After I assigned my keys I printed out the HOTAS chart that came with the digital version of the game and simply wrote down the keys that shift that function for my PoV switch on my actual joystick. It's a quick and easy to use reference just in case I forget something (which happens). I also drew a quick reference for weapons, RWI codes etc. etc. on the same chart. Well I hope this post made some sense and if you have any questions or suggestions for this post please do let me know. Also if you are interested in my control files, message me and I will do my best to get them to you. Cheers.
  4. That helped a lot. Thanks for all the info!
  5. I've been looking through the tutorials and the training missions and I can't seem to find a real answer. In short, how can I manage STP's/Marks/points inside the CDU? To make an example. Say I find a area that has several groups of targets in it. I want to set up points on those areas so I can quickly slew the TGP or Mav or any other weapon system to rapidly engage these target areas. How can I enter/mark these points and then store them in the CDU? And to follow that, how do I rapidly access those points/marks with the CDU or the UFC? Sorry if this has been asked somewhere else and I simply missed it.
  6. I use the same stick because my X45 just does not want to work correctly with Win 7. Anyways based off the above posted information I have created a little .doc that sits on my desk and allows me to quickly reference which side button shifts my hat on top of the stick to what mode. Hope that makes sense. Anyways, I do not have the ability to host files online. But I can e-mail you the .doc if you would like to take a look.
  7. Remember the 30mm on the A10 fires depleted uranium rounds as well
  8. I don't know current russian doctrine, but calling for fire is not very complicated, it can be, but the basic version is rather simple. Now, once again, I can't speak for the russian military, I'm going by U.S. Army standards here. But the KA-50 is more then capable of getting all the information needed to place a call fo fire. Most important of all, Target Location (MGRS, or map coordinates) and what kind of target the guns will be firing at. So as long as the KA-50 has communications with a forward observer, the gun battery itself or someone who can pass the information on to said gun battery. The ABRIS/SHIVAL make this very easy. I guess it all depends on Russian Doctrine.
  9. No case of Beer, but they helped us on plenty of other occations though.
  10. Once on Patrol we recieved rocket fire by a OH-58D (Thankfully, they realized their mistake and didn't make a second attack run). We had rockets impacting within 30 meters of our vehicles and felt no effects. I'm not sure what kind of rocket they used though. I was standing up in the turret at the time and was very exposed, woke me up better then any energy drink ever did :)
  11. I do. Mostly on the 152'nd server
  12. Another reason would be that, if you are set in Autohover mode and you somehow slide too far off your hold point, your AP channels will disengage.
  13. UPDATE: It was a inproper install of the 2009 Skin that caused issues with both weapons not showing on the aircraft as well as rockets causing an instant explosion. Modman could not remove the skin because it wasn't used to installing. So after a quick re-install the issue was fixe(Remember your StarForce Deactivation/Activation).
  14. Howdy, For some reason, when I atempt to fire rockets (either type) my Chopper simply explodes. Target is lased (TA,C Symbols on Targetting Screen and HUD) but as soon as I launch the rocket I just go up in flames. Any ideas?
  15. Okay, for some reason none of my external weapons (Rockets, AT Missiles etc) Will show up in-game. They used to show, but they don't anymore. This goes for both single and multi-player. The only thing I can think off that changed is that I tried to install the Newyears 2009 skin available in the files section. (Maybe I screwed it up somehow). Cheers, Valtyr.
