ED is kidding themselves if they think that this rigmarole is acceptable to install a patch. Every other piece of software on the planet can have a 1 click patch install, why not this? And "it's complicated" is a cop-out. Theres software that makes BS look like Space Invaders, and they have 1 click patches.

Game looks pretty good, but does it let you choose which side you play on in multiplayer ? Thats the problem I found with ArmA, waaaay too many co-op vs. AI servers. I don't see the attraction. It's like beating up retards, no challenge. If you can play op-for, I'm in.

So he was, my bad. Thats what you get for skimming. Still, my #1 rule can't be stressed enough ;)

No offence meant to anybody here, but I think your coming to the wrong place for overclocking advice. Before you even touch your bios, you should hit SEVERAL dedicated OC sites and do some research. I've seen alot of bunk advice thrown around on game forums (none that I noticed in this thread), I even saw someone tell someone else to not bother running any anti-virus at all - on these boards too. You have expensive stuff there, I would hate to see it messed up because of bad advice. Besides, if someone here knows what they are doing- they probably frequent a dedicated oc site. And dont forget the #1 rule : If you don't know what it does, don't **** with it.

Just wait till you start losing power for no reason, or you suddenly lose hydraulic pressure. Talk about those "deer caught in the headlights" moments. Crap like that made me practice my autorotation.

The only reason that counts.

Makes sense it would be the A-10. If I remember correctly, back in the day, the A-10 in LOMAC had a partially completed Advanced Flight Model. Why wouldn't they just finish the flight model, add the clickable pit and update textures. On that note, wouldn't it also make sense to port the SU-25T over from FC ? Just need a clickable pit.

London Drugs, who woulda thought ? That was the only, and I mean ONLY place I could find LO:FC in physical form. They are kinda hit and miss for computer stuff. I found them selling an ATI 9800pro for $350.00 - this was in June - 2008. Other times I've found stuff there selling for insanely cheap. Other times, they were the only place I could find some hard to find software or hardware. Weird place. I bought LO:FC along with a flash card for my camera, some cold medication and a pound of gourmet coffee.

DCS: How to gain performance on Windows Vista (Windows 7)
DarthElvis replied to eV1Te's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Wow. That has to be the crappiest advice I have ever seen someone give anyone, anywhere. I really hope no-one at your work goes to you for computer advice. If your in IT , I really feel for your company. -
This much is true, but in real life, that manpad has to have a visual in order to lock me up. The AI in BS don't have to worry about that little detail - because they don't see the trees. In real life, I would be able to fly within 10 feet of the manpad guy, and if his view of me is obstructed by the forest canopy -no shot. Radar guided AA has the same drawback. I've got no problems with someone wanting to hide in the bushes (actually I do -they are damn annoying and can really ruin your day) but the visual obstruction that the trees provide should work both ways. I can see him being able to shoot at me from clearings and the edges of the treeline, but not from the middle of the freaking forest. Again, collisions with trees is secondary to the trees being invisible to AI but not to me.
-
Collideable(sp?) trees are not really a big deal to me. The big deal to me is the AI don't even see them. It would be good enough if they couldn't see or shoot through dense forest cover. Nothing worse than a surprise Stinger coming out of a heavily wooded area.

What am I missing ? ABRIS/Datalink content
DarthElvis replied to DarthElvis's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Awesome, thank you. +rep -
I've noticed in the producers notes on the Datalink that Matt sends one of his wingmen to a specific point brought up on the ABRIS (1:44 into the video). Now how does he get these "target points" into the nav system in the first place ? Is this something that has to be put into the mission itself, or do I punch them in manually , either through the ABRIS itself or the PVI-800 system ? I've tried making a marker with the Shkval (using the 3rd button - the square between the AA and the ingress point buttons) but my wingnuts refuse to go to the designated point. Although I can get them to use ingress points and attack designated targets. I get the whole datalink thing except for this one thing, one of the most usefull things to be sure. Seems to me this little feature would alow you to pre-position your wingmen before engagement. I'm sure this is covered somewhere, but I haven't found it yet. Any links, page numbers from the manual, would be greatly appreciated. On another note, I must say this is the best $39.00 I've spent in a long time. I haven't had this much fun since LOMAC came out. Good job ED. Good job on getting it to D2D.

No offense meant, I guess good natured ribbing does not translate well over the net. I just thought it was funny that the link he gave lead nowhere. Guess I should have used a smiley or something ;) Cool Firefox skin, btw.

Lol, yeah -use the search. Whats the matter with you.

Love the sim. Absolutely love the chosen aircraft. I am sooo sick of the same old Apache, F-16, F-18, U.S.A. all the way B.S. subject matter in most past and present sims/games. LO:FC and BS were a breath of fresh air. The KA-50 might be a relic from the 80's, but so is the AH-64 (might have upgraded systems, but still an old cold war relic- and probably not much better than the Ka-50 in the timeframe the sim is set in). Not to mention the a-10, f-14, 15,16, and 18 are relics from the 70's. My only suggestion is to release the modules with 2 aircraft instead of 1. Eg: an F-16 along with a new Mig-29, or new SU-27 and new F-15 to get some OPFOR online goodness happening. Nothing more boring than both sides having the same aircraft. As for score, I would have to give it a 90%. 10% off for that damn tree issue. Otherwise it runs like butter on my system with graphics cranked, on Vista to boot - setting affinity makes a HUGE difference. I've barely started the campaign, so can't really speak to that, but everything else is very, very good. Well worth my $40.00 d/l from D2D.

Don't put it past them to pull another Flaming Cliffs on us, include the patch in a new module (looks like A-10 at this point) and charge you for it. No pay, No patch. Mind you, FC is a great addition- but the patch should have been available separate.

Any plans for a patch 1.13 or 1.2?
DarthElvis replied to RedTiger's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Then prove me wrong. No word one way or the other for over a year, vague mention of " we might do it" or " we are looking at the possibility " does not count. Those statements mean nothing, they are not worth the trouble to write them. ED knows if a patch will be done, yet they flat refuse to say if it will be. Why the games ? Is it a Russian thing ? As for insinuating you've mislead us, you actually have to say something for it to be misleading. So no, you have not mislead us. I stand by my opinion - Any future patch work is a pipe dream. I would like nothing better than to be proven wrong, but if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck - it's probably a duck. -

DarthElvis replied to RedTiger's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
There will be NO MORE patches. They have always said " when BS is finished". BS will never be finished. They plan to make more and more modules for BS. Do the math. Saying they'll "look at" doing a patch means nothing, I'll "look at" the possibility of shoving a chopstick up my nose and into my brainpan, doesn't mean I'll do it. There will be NO MORE PATCHES, now it would be nice for ED to admit it and allow the people carrying false hope some relief. -
However the collisions themselves work, the "dealbreaker*" for me is the enemy can see me , but I cant see him. I may have misread, this seems to be the gist of what part of the issue is. For me - collisions are secondary. Don't know about anyone else, but I cant see Jack-sh*t when I'm walking through the woods and something flies over (lots of logging helo's, etc.). I sure as hell wouldn't know where to aim or point the seeker on a manpad - if the missile would even make it through the tree canaopy. *not really dealbreaker in the classic sense, still gonna buy it. But there's always something pretty major in an ED product that never gets addressed, not a slam - a fact(aamram in lomac anyone ?). Wouldn't surprise me if this was one of them.
