Hello,
I have been away from DCS for several years.
Booted up the gaming computer for the first time in several years. Updated Windows 10, Nvidia drivers and Flew in VR for a couple hours on version Beta 2.8 something.
I then downloaded the latest 2.9 Beta version and am unable to get it to run.
It gets as far as the 15yrs of dcs then the message Dcs crash appears just as my Index connects. I reset my video card to defaults, deactivated the over clock and ran a repair. Same deal. Also updated all the drivers I could think of.
crash log attached. Anyone have any ideas?
system is i9 , 3090ti, 64 ram and mdot drive.

Yes, it’s called Open beta version , we get it. But if that’s what’s being pushed if anyone wants to actually participate with other humans, maybe they should either limit distribution (omg, I said it) so its not the prevalent version for MP or perhaps hold it in development until it actually works? Of course a third option would be add a “not suitable for VR or low end systems “ disclosure before purchase (oh and perhaps a refund every time they “improve performance to the point another block of customers can’t use it) and a fairly significant piece of complaints would disappear because the VR crowd would go play something else….

There are dude’s who spend hours, literally hours sitting behind the yolk of a FedEx simulated 7?7. Playing airplane pilot. You would be surprised at how little folks have to do sometimes. I had an associate actually take a vacation day because he “had to cover” for another “pilot”.
To each their own I guess but would hope the developers had better priorities.-

Crazy thing is I was on multiple waiting list back long ago for the 3090. Gave up finally. Maybe get on the 5090 list and be first??

When I used to fly, the index had an almost invisible transition out of the sweet spot (aka it was essentially all clear). Did not get that “scuba mask” effect either with the FOV. My biggest issue was getting enough resolution to actually dog fight whilst not getting into slide shows and hiccups.
Although there are bigger systems now, mine is no slouch.
Sitting it out until the program becomes more optimized (whatever that eventually may mean) then swap in the newest graphics card assuming it works with everything else I have.
won’t be flying or buying until then.
VR is really cool though!!!-

For even more realism, oh and to prevent the “fly, shoot, die, respawn loop”, they should make it an option that if you die, your permanently banned from a server. Maybe even lock you permanently out of DCS.

Nobody doubts that. It's just that not everyone enjoys doing it as much as you seemingly do.
Your missing the point cfrag. He feels like it’s a good idea and he has a right to tell others how to play.
In order to guarantee his freedom, others need to change their way’s, thats what freedom is all about. Asking him to create his own server with the hundreds of others screaming for auto start banning, or joining one that exists is a violation of those freedoms.
I think if the option can be created, perfect, can’t hurt. But asking him to join one of those servers crosses the line….
