From what I can tell, the replay system is tied to every frame drawn.  It stores input based on frames per second, so if you have even the slightest stutter in frames, it'll miss an input and this is why replays are not accurate of players.  Server replay is accurate 100% of the time however.

I guess that's an option for SP people who need a reliable option.    Just start a private server and jump in as a sole player, easy enough.

Tacview basically records the mission flown. It doesn't draw data directly from the TRK file. You have to run the track and Tacview will show what happens in the replay. If the replay is off target, Tacview will be as well.

Yes that's right, thanks for reminding me.    Was just a thought if Tacview could play ED Trk files as well it would be a good way to narrow down the issues with ED's track files.

I think it has more to do with staggering release dates. Hind will go into early access and then they'll trot out the Apache for pre-purchase.

I think ED plan a little bit further ahead than that.     They planned on pre-purchase early May but didn't quite hit the mark.  All good, it happens.

  4. Tracks have always never been 100% reliable.   AFAIK track files basically copy all the flight & environment parameters as well as your inputs and recreates it in DCS World.

I can imagine there might be some input errors over time especially if your throwing the stick and throttle around a lot and these are largely the sort of track errors i see.

What you describe is something different though, like the AI has made different decisions in the track?   weird

Edit:  Haven't flown F-5 or Mig28 in ages but stall speed will depend on weight and conditions?    Approach speed is about 140kts in F-5 and 259KPH in Mig-28😄

  5. The gun will certainly be a handful, i'm looking forward to it.    Point to note is that on the KA-50 the gun is hung close to the COG of the helo to minimize induced pitching from the recoil.

Also being slung from the side of the helo, the recoil induces a yaw.

Now the Hinds gun is slung from a more forward position so the recoil affect will be more significant than the KA-50, also to the side so we will have to anticipate both pitch and yaw when firing the gun.

Now add that high rate of fire and you will be in for a roller coaster ride. 😀

  6. Look at it this way, would you rather:

A:  ED take your money first week of May even though they know they have encountered a small set back.

    or

B:  ED be responsible and delay the pre-purchase until said set back is resolved.

I think B is the better choice, be thankful.  🙂

C'mon mate! A dude with info? There are tons of info freely anb publicly available in the web about those systems, Sebulba just told you too, and they break the law adding all the Vitebsk, but don't break it If they add half of it?

All im saying is..   If ED could model the systems they would.   Its not as easy as getting public available material.   That can get you in legal shit.    ED know what they are doing, if they dont model a system its because they CANT not because they just want to shit stir the community.  fm lol

Then why not have the full system added?

Seriously are you for real?  Do you not think ED have restrictions on what they can model?   Do u think just because some guy has info on a system ED will just jump on it ?   There are so many factors you have not considered.

What I'm interested in especially is an explenation why the departure from reality is taking place and how this will affect future developement in general.

I don't think this will affect ED's future development QA so to speak, i really think this is an exception due to the disproportionate information available on western aircraft compared to eastern, more so the laws governing the said development of respective aircraft.    Im not saying ED are trying to balance game play but i think this is their compromise to some sort of way of providing a more balanced battlefield.       (  ok i have my tomato shield ready 😛 )

edit:BS3 is ED's KA-52 module.. as best they can get away with.

  10. I'm really on the fence with this one.   I followed the development of the KA-50 before it was released, when it was.... WOW it changed the world of simulation forever.

At the time it was thrilling to run the Shark through it's paces, testing systems, flight performance, auto rotations, all knowing it was a high fidelity simulation of a real aircraft.

Too see it morph into a non-existent air-frame  is a little disappointing but in light of current times i can honestly understand why ED would persue BS3.

In all honesty i think ED, over the years are a little fed up with Russian laws, image how frustrating it must be for a Russian aviation nutbag working at ED coding F-16's, F/A-18, AH-64 etc but never get to work on a high fidelity Su-30 or a KA-52.

AFAIK, with BS3 ED plan to deliver the Stock #25 Shark with an updated cockpit/external model as well as the updated version.

I pretty happy with that i think its a fair compromise for everyone, as long as mission editors can disable upgraded BS3's from MP servers.

    hi,

I am sorry if my questions bother you. I haven't simmed in 25 years and just bought Virpil Hotas with DCS. Being a project manager for work I just try to collect as much relevant data to be able to start my 'project'. From what I read settings are one of them. They are at least intricate enough for people to post about in DCS forum and on YouTube.

As an example (my gear takes another 3 weeks to arrive) I am reading a Hornet Guide by Chuck and write down every abbreviations in a word document, I am on page 167 of 626 of the Guide and am already on 6 pages of abbreviations which I read every morning to get acquainted with the terminology. This is how my brain works/prepares, sorry for that.

Flying is hard enough so I am hoping to fall back on the experience of others for the peripherals if possible. Of course that doesn't mean I will change settings when I am into the game. Step one is get everything working and looking ok. step 2 is flying. 3 is optimizing once I am mission ready.

    Hi,

I ordered very early and was 167 on the backorder list when they came in by the 10's for weeks.... the wait was terrible 🙂

I am now waiting for my HOTAS.

Fair call i do apologize for being rude.   You have provided more context and i can see where you are coming from.   All the best 👍

I'm pretty sure that you will be free to call your crew-mate whatever you want. "Petrovich" is just the nickname for the AI code, I seriously doubt that we will hear our character refer to the character by name, in-game.

Good point.   I'm pretty sure Jester doesn't say,  "Hey, I'm Jester... Bandit 6 o'clock"  😆

Sounds to me like you have a zoom or expand setting enabled on the TV.  Many of them have this...  Take a look.

OMG!!    Thank you!!!   I found a setting called picture overscan, turned this off and now have native 1080 without issues.

    Legend!!   👍

  14. ED is modeling a variant of the AH-64 that never employed stingers,  so um ah i think it's logical that we won't be getting stingers.

Not too hard to figure out.  😄

Anyone trying to convince themselves otherwise is wasting there time.

The F-15C is capable of A2G but the software was removed from US jets.   ED follow suit.

KA-50 and the Igla, same story.

F-16's with 4x HARM and A-10's with 6x Mav's is a different thing,   AFAIK these loadouts are possible but just not realistically loaded.
