  1. Thanks. Any suggestions how to see fps in the headset? Saw that the other oculus tool is suggested but it does not have fps? What is AF? Edit: Got it. Sent from my SM-N975F using Tapatalk
  2. OK Guys, Just got my Rift S, and thanks to all in this forum. Have learnt a fair bit. Read all the 2000 plus posts here but now cant seem to find the 'settings' to use. In the presets, I was using HIGH, but when I select VR it looks a lower setting. Which should I choose? I have an 15 9600K with 16gb RAM, and a 2070 Super overclocked GPU. Have gone to the Oculus settings and selected the Quality over Performance, but any further help in the DCS settings would be greatly appreciated. Edit: Oh, and on another note, no issues with my squint. Also, how do guys who wear glasses make sure that they dont touch the lenses?
  3. Thanks. Is there any difference in use of the Rift S between Steam and the stand alone? I just downloaded the steam one, and when I open it, it shows the settings and missions from my stand alone. Any idea why that is? Doe it use the same folders?
  4. Why does Steam need less storage? Is stuff streamed during playing?
  5. So, I am a noob here, and am using a downloaded version of DCS. Planning to buy some modules, and I see that there is a 'Steam' version too. I also see that there seem to be some issues with the Rift S and the steam version? Is that true, or have I misunderstood some posts? So is it better to go standalone or Steam, both generally and from the point of view of VR compatibility? EDIT: Saw this thread, so I think stand alone would be better I guess. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3698485
  6. Couple of questions. 1. Why does the Rift halve the fps in the first place? 2. The glasses you use - are they with the numbers for your distance vision?
  7. I can totally relate. I'm a surgeon with a squint, so no depth perception. Strangely, it helped when I started laparoscopic surgery, as I could adapt quickly to a screen vs the real life with 3d, and now, with 3d laparoscopy, I cant take advantage of that. Waiting to see what my experience with the Rift will be.
  8. Disable? As in do you need to unplug it from the GPU, or is switching it off enough?
  9. Curious. What are your prescription numbers
  10. Guys, I live in India, and my daughter eaves the US on 21st. Just ordered from Oculus on 16th morning. Do you guys think it's likely to reach Philly by 20th? No answer from Oculus. On their website it says that if shipped by USPS it might take upto 2 weeks? Anyone here ordered from Oculus to the east coast?
  11. Another question guys. I dont live in the US, so this concept of buying something, opening, trying and having 30 days to return is kind of strange to me. I know it's kind of taken for granted in the US, but I'm curious as to what the company does with returned units? Sell them all as open box at a loss?
  12. Does the Rift have a USB or USB c plug? I presume a USB A right? DO you use an adapter to connect it to the USBc on the Nvidia?
  13. Is that an i5 9600K or an i7 9700K that you have?
  14. Currently at page 88 of this thread ;-) Anyone here has a squint or a 'lazy eye'? I have one, so no idea how it would affect VR. I am an endoscopic surgeon, and I find 3d endoscopy not comfortable at all. Edit: I mostly use one eye for near and the other eye for distance vision.
  15. Thanks. I guess you need to put in your 'distance' prescription? Is that right? VR is at infinity? Possible to use it with regular glasses too?
  16. What do guys who wear glasses do? Total noob here, and looking to get into VR. Also, I need to order a Rift S and its not in stock at Amazon. Their website says that it will ship in 2 days. Reliable? I need it to reach Philly by 19th. Any other site you guys can suggest where I can get a guaranteed delivery by that date?
