  1. To be honest I have got the no tree shadows which makes a big difference

How do you turn off just tree and ground shadows? They look horrible anyway and are all flickery and blocky and not realistic anyway. If they save fps then that's even better. The cockpit shadows for me are a must though. I don't recall seeing an option to just turn off ground and tree shadows.

  2. Thanks Neil, I'll try that. Is the new FM only in the L version because I didn't notice any changes in flight behavior a few days ago when I last flew the gazelle I already had placed in one of my missions.

  3. I don't see any difference at all when using the setting in DCS but with the rift SDK the change is quite noticeable. I think there may be some issues for some people with the PD slider in DCS even for those of us with a rift.

  4. So the pixel density slider in DCS is working? I don't see any difference when using the setting in DCS but with the SDK the change is quite evident. As far as the view problem I just modified the borked .lua files for each aircraft and it fixes that wonky problem. I'll have to try the aero enabled setting to see if that clears up my vegetation ghosting issue that is still remaining. The mesh issue on hills with floating textures has always been there and it would be nice to get that cleared up too. I only see it in 1.5.

  5. Not sure if this was mentioned but the slider for pixel density doesn't seem to be making any quality adjustments that I can see. The setting in the dev kit works great though for clearing up the gauges. I'm assuming that the slider is there but isn't actually doing anything yet?

  6. Yes me too. I also have mesh issues where some textures appear to float over others particularly on hills and such. I also have a lot of vegetation flashing when close to the ground. Looks like ghosting almost. 1.5.3 does not have this problem.

  7. Is there a fix for the disappearing menu? I found a fix in another thread for the borked tracking by editing the views.lua of every aircraft. I am glad the kneeboard is there but I have to see if there is a way to stretch it out because it's very narrow and has the same problem as the one in surround has being that it is designed for a 1080p monitor.

  8. Best way I can describe it is moving forward and backward causes a rocking motion forward and backward in the cockpit like that of a boat on the waves. Very, very nausea inducing. Sitting in the cockpit the front of the aircraft is noticeably higher as well and makes it look like the front is 15 degrees higher than the rear. 5 minutes of that and I was ready to hurl. How to uninstall the update and go back?

  9. Update for the head tracking in VR: The head tracking works fine for the out-of-cockpit views. Get in the plane and lateral and forward/backward views are not right.

The much larger VR text for radios is MUCH appreciated!

Oh man you aren't kidding. Move forward and backward and the whole aircraft rocks up and back like a boat. Seriously nausea inducing. This update is a major step backward for me. Is there a way to remove the update or do I have to uninstall everything and install the stable build? The beta is unusable like this for me. I feel sick after 5 minutes of that boat action.

  10. 40-60fps works fine for me with no issues because ATW makes it smooth. I prefer to set things high and let ATW handle the rest. I average 60-90 in 1.5 and 45-90 in 2.0. You will develop VR wings if you use it more. It took me about 4 or 5 hours to get used to it and now I rarely feel nausea and I am predominately helo with occasional jaunts in the P51 and L39. The Gazelle used to make me sick as a dog after 30 seconds because it's so twitchy and if it started rocking then that was it for me and the headset was off. Now I can fly it like I stole it and it doesn't bother me. A second 1080 will do absolutely nothing for you in DCS or VR as DCS does not function with SLI and even if it did SLI does not work well with VR due to latency issues.

  11. If and when the knee board comes in for VR fliers, does it have the ability to access and show user-created pages if we want to use our own checklists/charts/notes, etc? I have always used VR with DCS and have no experience with the kneeboard. thank you :)

It should since the regular kneeboard in non-VR DCS does. As long as it shows the kneeboard then anything you add should show as well or at least it better or else it will be useless for me. :pilotfly:

  12. Without using the SDK to set the pixel density forget reading the dials. Changing the pixel density to 1.5 and above literally transforms the sim. You can easily do 1.8 to 2.0 with your 1080. I couldn't read the Huey at all until I used 1.5. I run at 1.8 now with my 1080. It's still not going to be as clear as your monitor but it's night and day clearer with 1.8 than with 0.

  13. The FFB2 arrived this week and it's ok. It took me a bit to figure out the axes and reversing them etc to make it work. There is no vibration in the stick from ETL transitions and when landing etc which I'm kinda bummed about. I was expecting force feedback but really got trimmer functionality and even then it's kinda weird in that the first trim bumps the stick over further than where I have it and I have to disable trim and then reenable trim and it's fine after that. I was hoping for much more active force feedback than what's programmed in these modules.

I also wish I could exchange the stick for my X-55 stick since the buttons are much more realistic than what's on the FFB2. I do not have the technical skill to do that work like the linked thread above...

I think in the end I'll probably stick with the X-55 stick.

  14. Actually, if you could just run a 2 minute FRAPS benchmark with this track and post the min/max/avg fps, that would be truly awesome.

Edit: my graphicsw setup is seen in the screenshot. I hope you can run at 1440p :D

Alternatively, you can run it on a single 1080p monitor(I believe your monitors are 1080p native each) and I'll do the same. Then we can compare.

I'll try and get to it later this week mate since free time is very limited for me during the week. I have one machine that has a 4790k at 4.4 with the 980ti and my VR rig is the 6700K at 4.4 now with the 1080. Benchmarks are almost identical in both machines when running the 980ti within 1 or 2 fps so running the test should yield identical marks I would think. Best I can do is 1080p but at such a low rez you probably won't get any useful info since the card will probably not go above 50% utilization. The real tests for these kinds of cards are in VR, at 4k and in surround resolutions.

edit: no idea what language that is in your settings so you'll need to translate so I can get the settings right.
