  1. 2.0 is Open Alpha.

OK...I am still not following. Where is the beta? Kindly. Do you mean 1.5 beta? If so then it's not in mine but mine is steam so maybe that's why? And it would be less confusing for folks if you said 1.5 or 2.0 instead of open beta and alpha.

  2. I saw the same thing. pixel 2.0 seems to make little difference in performance in the Huey in Nevada but gives much greater clarity to the gauges in all aircraft. The mustang was night and day in cockpit clarity but all other aircraft benefit greatly from the setting. In Steam 1.5 however there is a noticeable hit to fps. There's one spot in 1.5 on the Huey weapons training map that when you look towards the mountains for some reason fps is cut in half and then when you look towards the sea the fps comes right back. Something is clearly wrong in that map since the same behavior was apparent in 3D surround months ago and is not related to VR. I hope the map integration to engine 2.0 happens quickly as I love flying in the caucuses maps but they are just not optimized for 3D or VR at the moment.

  3. I find it very difficult to transition between both. Fly the gazelle for an hour and the Huey is a lumbering ox. Fly the Huey for an hour and the twitchyness of the gazelle will have you seriously over compensating on the controls. This is seriously evident when flying them in the rift. The gazelle reacts the same as the Huey with about 1/4 of the control movements which makes it very sensitive to fly and requires a light touch. The Huey is, well, about the total opposite of that.

  4. I tried it this morning set at 2. It's a world of difference for me. Gauges are much more readable and the ones that aren't are easily readable by leaning forward. Before, I had to lean forward and get right up on them to read them. This is definitely a rift 1.5 upgrade. Same performance and no issues that I could see. I actually flew for about 20 mins like this with only minor motion sickness too which I haven't been able to do in the 4 days I've had my rift. Devs should really give users the option to select their own graphical settings to improve visuals instead of hiding it under sdk settings like this. This is a huge improvement for people with the hardware to run it, particularly with the gtx 1080 coming out next week.

  5. I get the same fps myself and am having no performance issues with everything on high settings in game. I don't notice jutter myself so ATW must be doing its job. Everything flies smooth as silk. I am getting severe motion sickness though even after minor use. I am getting it even in lucky's tale as the camera moves forward and that game is pegged at 90fps so it's not jutter causing my motion sickness I don't think. Over the desert in the mustang at 90fps I was still getting queasy too so I don't know. Makes it very hard to use for more than 10 mins at a time. I'm hoping this goes away as I get my VR legs...

  6. Also one of the things that's happening to me is that when OH is running and I am surround on my desktop, any time I try to change the rez of my desktop or the rez of a non-VR game my PC instantly goes black and reboots. If I disable surround then no problems. I have to make sure I change all resolutions before OH is launched if I know I will need to do that otherwise it reboots. OH and nvidia surround are definitely NOT playing well together. I will test this behavior on my 6700K machine because the 4790K machine does not like OH and resolution changes when running surround.

  7. Speaking of rez, how do you change the rift rez in the game or is it set automatically? It shows the surround rez in the game settings of 5760x1080 because that's what I run in surround. I thought it would show 2160x1200 in game but it doesn't.

The immersion looks amazing but man it makes me nauseous. I def need to work on some VR legs. The sense of height, speed etc is incredible. I never knew the Huey sat so high off the ground even in 3D surround it doesn't really portray that sense of size inside the cockpit and depth that the rift shows. I basically have to learn how to fly these things again because it's so different in the rift - 10 minutes at a time because any more than that and it's queasyville...

  8. The mouse is the only thing that works for me in DCS with my rift. How else are you supposed to click stuff if the mouse doesn't work? Can you map a joystick button to clicking switches and menus? I find the mouse to be odd to use with the rift.

  9. Well I need another high end card for my daily gamer PC because I have to pull the 980ti out of it to put it in my VR rig which will be a dedicated VR/sim machine when my rift arrives tomorrow. I am taking that machine and putting it in my Volair simming cockpit that I am picking up next week. That leaves me with a single 970 that won't cut the mustard on my daily driver 3D surround PC that I use for all my other games. I don't mind spending money but I refuse to throw it away on gimmicky FE overpriced cards. I know, first world problems...

  10. Doesn't look like currently the 1080 will offer much over the 980ti even in VR. My Gigabyte gaming 980ti runs all day at high 1400's at 67c with my 75% fan curve. It will run 1500 easily and I have but choose not to do it on a daily basis because it didn't give me anything over what I feel is safe. I recently sold my 970's and have some change in my pocket from those so upgrading to the 1080 would only cost me $300. I just don't think the price/value proposition is there with this card at $700. I'll revisit this when the AIB cards come out next month. $550-600 is all this card is worth.

  11. Poly Roie: please forgive me if this was already mentioned somewhere in this thread but if you say that RW Gazelle pilots said the FM was accurate and the ship flies like it does in real life then what kind of controls were the actual pilots using and what kind of curves to get it that way? Are they all using long stick cyclics, X55's, etc. Thanks mate.

  12. You have to use the standalone versions of DCS. The "Steam" version of DCS is not new enough. I just mention this because you did not mention which version of DCS you are using.

For further assistance you probably need to provide more details.

Steam 1.5 doesn't work with VR yet?? First I've heard of this. Bummer because I run 1.5 Steam myself and my Rift is incoming in 2-3 weeks.

  13. While all that may be true it would be nice to hear definitively if SLI is dead for DCS from ED themselves. Instead of keeping us in the lurch I'd be fine with either a yes we are definitely adding it or no we have dropped it instead of just crickets. That way I could at least plan my future GPU purchases accordingly...

  14. I had already edited the loadout to remove everything and add 35% fuel so I'm pretty sure I was within the airspeed and angle that I needed to do this maneuver. The ship just dropped like a rock and carried no lift at all when the fuel and collective were dumped. It reminded me exactly of what those cheap FSX helo addons do when the collective is dumped which is totally unrealistic. I'll keep trying and see what happens.

  15. I tried it by rolling the fuel lever and the bird just dropped out of the sky at 150kph and slammed into the ground even with full collective flare near the ground. I would expect some continual forward motion since the rotors are basically wings but it drops quickly out of the sky and the collective was unresponsive. I'm sure it was due to something like rotor RPM etc but this helo just does not react like any other helo I've flown in any sim. It reacts more like one of those unrealistic addons from FSX that just drop like a stone to the ground when collective is dropped. What speed do you have to maintain to maintain rotor RPM for an auto in this bird? I would think that 125-150kph would be about right but maybe not? I just can't help but feel that something is just not right with this FM.
