  1. Here's two screenshots further highlighting the bug. This is after a cold start on an airfield. I basically flew in a straight line here from RAF High Halden on the Channel map all the way to France on cruise settings in the P-47 (say 50% power or so). The AI seem like they're nowhere near full power to try to catch up. Screenshot 1, here you can see #3 and #4 way back Screenshot 2, same situation as above F10 map view. This is roughly 10 minutes after take off. Another 10 minutes further in the mission #3 and #4 are still some 3 to 4 miles behind me. I hope this clears things up! Don't worry, lockable tailwheel and wide landing gear make the Jug easy to handle on the ground
  2. I've done some further testing in the meanwhile and I've found that the issue I described only happens when I take off from an airfield after a cold start from the ramp. Like in your .trk file the bug doesn't happen when starting the mission on the runway I found. Thanks for the help though I'll post a screenshot showing the problem when I have time to clarify things a little further!
  3. Hi all, I think I’ve found a bug with the AI wingmen. They struggle to keep up with the player’s aircraft when ordered to fly in formation, after taking off from an airbase. What happens is that #2, #3 and #4 stay way behind the player, even when ordered to fly in close formation. So far I’ve noticed this in some of my own simple missions, flying the Spitfire IX and P-47D. I’ve uploaded a .trk file below. In this mission I set my AI flight to fly in close (30m) WWII Fighter Vic formation, but you can see them struggling to join up, even when I fly slowly or if I make a few 360’s so they can catch up. I’m currently on the latest Open Beta (2.5.6.61527.3 as of now) and I don’t remember encountering this before. In the 1st track file you can see the wingmen somewhat join formation but still lag behind and in the 2nd track file #3 and #4 completely fail to join formation and fly like a mile behind me. I flew the mission in the 2nd file at 7x speed. I’ve looked around on the forums and I couldn’t find this being reported before, so sorry if this has been priorly reported. This is my first time writing a bug report so if anything’s missing, feel free to let me know. I’ll try my best to help. P47D wingmen bug part 1.trk Track file part 2, else I'd exceed the 5mb upload limit in the first post P47D wingmen bug part 2.trk
  4. I was very worried that VR performance would be as bad as on The Channel map with all these details, but I'm positively surprised to see that my frame rates are very good, even above populated areas. I did two test flights so far, with the F-16C and F-14B (which to me seem like the most demanding modules in VR, from the ones I own) and above all areas I easily maintained a locked 40 FPS, with only about 60-75% GPU usage. Even above Damascus at treetop level my frames didn't drop below the 40 which is exactly what I'm aiming for so the ASW of my Rift S keeps everything smooth :) This is mostly with low-med settings, with shadows set to ''low'' and terrain shadows set to ''flat'', with 1.3x SS I say if you can run the Persian Gulf map fine you will have no troubles with the Syria map either. Ugra Media really, really did some outstanding work on this map. It's fantastic :)
  5. I'm on stable 2.5.5 right now. I've done some investigating, the issue seems to be related to ASW, specifically when flying the Tomcat. When I disable ASW in exactly the same mission I get 60 to 80 FPS, but enabling ASW and locking the FPS to 40 feels like just seeing 40 FPS without the ASW, basically, not smooth at all. In the Hornet and Viper, two other somewhat demanding aircraft, the same mission is way smoother and the issue doesn't seem to be there. When monitoring, I found that none of the CPU cores or the GPU usage exceeded 60% when in 40 FPS with ASW on. RAM usage constantly around 12 GB, so I don't think any of my hardware is bottlenecking
  6. I know another long post about VR performance, but please bear with me - (PC specs below) I'll try to stick to the point: in single-player DCS I get good FPS in VR, that means always 40+ FPS so I can play with 40 FPS with ASW enabled on my Rift S which is fine for me. Only problem is that I get enormous frametime spikes in the F-14B especially in any sort of mission with a couple of aircraft engaging each other. Frametimes are higher than 25 ms too. This is not the case when I fly the F/A-18C for example, even in somewhat more complex missions, with say 10 aircraft flying around close to each other. I've done some testing in exactly the same mission, doing exactly the same and here is what I found, with the help of MSI Afterburner HW monitoring: - Decreasing supersampling in Oculus Tray Tool (OTT) did not significantly improve the performance - Decreasing texture quality to ''low'' and shadows to ''flat only'' neither improved performance significantly. Same applies to other in-game graphic settings. - RAM usage never exceeded 11-12 GB, regardless of pre-load radius settings in this mission- GPU memory never exceeded 6.5 GB (max. 8GB) and GPU usage hovers around 50% - None of the 8 CPU cores exceeded 65% usage and all ran constantly at 4600 MHz- GPU and CPU temps did not 55 degrees C - The framerate pretty much is 40 FPS constantly, but the frametime constantly spikes up to ~50 ms and hovers around 25.6 ms - note that this should somewhat mean that the framerate is slightly lower than 40 FPS in game, meaning the Rift S is not able to properly render in-between frames with ASW. Now here's my question - which part or parts should I upgrade in my PC to get rid of these performance problems? Rather upgrade to 32 GB RAM or save money and get a better GPU? Or try to overclock my current GPU a little more? Specs: CPU: i7-9700k (stock speeds, unlucky in silicone lottery) GPU: RTX 2070 Super 8 GB (slight factory OC) MoBo: Z390 ATX RAM: 2x 8GB DDR4 3600 MHz (in dual channel obviously) DCS is installed on an SSD Oculus Rift S I play with the shaders mod to improve performance already For these tests I set all in-game settings to their lowest values. Normally I play at all low settings, no MSAA, at 1.5 SS in Oculus Tray Tool, with flat shadows and medium textures. Many thanks in advance to those who could give me some advice :)
  7. Hello fellow virtual pilots, I'm new to DCS (I've flown in plenty of other flight sims before though) and this is my first post on this forum, so sorry if I'm not in the right place for this question. When I fly in VR, I noticed I get massive framedrops when my bullets hit the ground or other aircraft. I have this issue with all aircraft so far I've flown (Spit IX, 'Stang and the Sabre). The smoke/dust clouds effects that form seem to be the issue. DCS runs fine otherwise. Are there any files or so I can delete/rename to get rid of these effects? I get this means less eye candy but I'd be willing to sacrifice that. System specs: Ryzen 5 2600 w/ stock cooler 16GB DDR4 RAM RTX 2070 8G Super AB350 Gigabyte Mobo Oculus Rift S
