  1. I just got shot down by an Mi-24 helicopter with an AT-6 (anti-tank missile). I'm not sure if he was aiming at me or I just got in the way (I was trying to engage him with sidewinders and got too close), but either way, :( Anyways, post your most embarrassing/worst-ever A-10 mistake so that we can learn from (read: mock) each other's failures.
  2. Also, make sure your intercom rotary switch is set to VHF (it should be by default when you start the sim). It's the big knob on the audio control panel at the back of the left console.
  3. No, it won't work, unfortunately. It's not a generic USB controller, it uses a serial bus with special MSFS–specific add–on software.
  4. Sorry if this has been asked already, I checked Google and the forum search and didn't see any obvious hits. Is taxiing supposed to be this difficult? Even with stick full backwards or full forwards I feel like I have almost no authority. I've ended up just using differential brakes to steer, but I know that's not exactly recommended practice. Is there a NWS (TWS I guess) switch or anything I'm missing in my startup checklist? I guess I wasn't expecting puttering around on the ground to be the second most difficult part of this game (after the godlike fighter AI - which brings up another question, is that going to be tunable, or am I doomed to be pwned over and over again by the PC?)
  5. That is a good point - thanks! I will do that, thanks for the idea.
  6. Thanks guys :D
  7. Ugh. :disgust: Look, I'm not trying to usurp the ED wiki or anything like that. To be honest I wasn't even aware that ED had a wiki until I had already been working on my site for months. By that point I had a specific idea for what I was trying to create. The ED wiki focuses on a completely different topic than my wiki (troubleshooting and technical info). It also has no indication at all about: What types of content they want How that content should be organized Limitations on what can be added (for example, will they be OK with quoting extensive portions of the A-10 flight manual?) What content license they use. This matters for importing content from Wikipedia, for example. Whether they are OK with including information which is not specific to ED games. For example, my wiki has a page about how jet engines work, which is important background information but doesn't directly pertain to DCS. Is that going to be OK with ED? Whether they will by OK with referencing games not produced by ED. For example, say I'm writing an article about CCIP and make a reference to Falcon 4. Is that going to be deleted by ED? Whether they will be OK with hosting potentially hundreds of megabytes of files and images, including large PDFs like the flight manuals? In short, I had spent months working on my site, and I didn't want that effort to be wasted or deleted because someone at ED decided they didn't agree with the content I was writing or how I had it organized. I had a specific idea for what I was trying to create, and therefore I decided to continue on with my site rather than trying to graft my content onto someone else's wiki that is organized and maintained completely differently.
  8. Thank you! :D
  9. Er... what about it? There's basically no game-related content on that site, all it is is troubleshooting info and a squadron directory.
  10. Hi all, I have been working on a wiki website for the DCS series, and now that it has a decent amount of content, I wanted to post a link here to let people know that it is available. http://www.dcswiki.com/ This is definitely still a work in progress, as there are a lot of sections and pages which need more content (in particular there's almost nothing yet about Black Shark). I've mostly been focusing on the A-10's systems and avionics for now, but there is a decent amount of content on other subjects as well. The page on the A-10's electrical system (http://www.dcswiki.com/index.php?title=Electrical_system_(A-10)) is a good example of a "complete" page and the level of detail I am hoping to eventually have. I'd really like to hear any feedback that people have about the site (what you like, what you don't like, what types of things you think should have more content). I'm also hoping to find some more people interested in contributing to the site. Anyone can make an account and start editing and adding content, there's no need to ask for permission or anything (that's the point of a wiki site after all :D). Anyways, hope you enjoy and find it useful.
  11. Really? I have been doing a lot of track playback over the last couple of days, and it always works fine for me, even when I have time acceleration set really high.
  12. That looks right - can you attach the MIZ file so people can take a look?
  13. Not sure what you mean - you are correct that the runway number is normally the same as the runway heading (rounded to the nearest 10), and as far as I know that's how it is in DCS: A-10C. Keep in mind that it's the magnetic heading that gets used for the runway number, so it might be a little different than what you are expecting if you are using true heading.
  14. Works for me too - I added a HMMWV, fuel tanker, and transport truck to Kobuleti airport, and ground crew works perfectly. Moved the exact same setup to Batumi and nothing happens. Must be still WIP. Another note for ED is that if you request another ground crew command before the first one is complete, the ground crew stops responding. You'll still get the radio confirmation, but nothing happens (you don't get refueled/rearmed).
  15. You can use pretty much any joystick - obviously there are really nice ones out like the TM Warthog and the X-52/X-65/G940, but a $10 Saitek will work perfectly as long as you don't mind using the keyboard for most of the HOTAS functions.
  16. Beta 4 (and a graphics drivers update) fixed almost all of the CTDs I was getting. The game is stable and a ton of fun to play, especially now that I can reliably run combat missions without crashing. There are still a few rough edges (ATC and radio comm is still a work in progress, for one) but it's close enough to "finished" that I wouldn't have any qualms about buying.
  17. Ugh, you had me excited there for a second, I saw the thread title and thought it had been released...
  18. "Future growth" isn't just a sim thing, it's commonly used in real aircraft design - for example, if you are putting together a warning light panel, you will often have several lights reserved for future growth, in case the aircraft is upgraded or has optional equipment added later on.
  19. There is a workaround that lets you use TrackIR with the 64-bit client - see this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=60706 It works perfectly for me.
  20. The aircraft's avionics don't keep track of "bullseye" and "anchor point" separately - all it knows about is the anchor point. The term "bullseye" just refers to the commonly agreed-upon anchor point that all the aircraft operating in a given area are using. You could manually change your anchor point to be something different, but then you would be out of sync with the other aircraft in the mission, and your bullseye coordinates would be different from everyone else's bullseye coordinates. Yes, you are 13.6 nautical miles from the bullseye at a bearing of 254 degrees (WSW like you said).
  21. The radio system hasn't been working for me either - I'm not sure if it's bugged/still WIP or if I'm just doing things wrong. It's still in beta I guess, hopefully they'll get it all cleaned up before releasing.
  22. Yeah, I know... focusing on the A-10 for now since it's the game most people are playing.
  23. Some more info about the CDU and its pages is here... still a work in progress though. Hope it helps. http://www.dcswiki.com/index.php?title=Control_display_unit_(A-10)
  24. I'll try that when I get home, thanks a lot!
  25. That's what I'm saying, I have a T.A.R.G.E.T. profile that I'm working on, I just can't find the key bindings in DCS that I need to bind to the flap switch in order to make it work like it does in the real aircraft.
