and remember as well when it gets up close and personal the chopper has the edge. You can turn 360 degrees in 10 seconds. He can't. You can stop and get behind him. He can't. You can use pretty much anything for cover.

I was just doing a mission in the Georgian oil war campaign. I took out a number of targets until I ran out of missiles. As I turned to RTB some Manpads in the areas started firing at me. I managed to dodge three missiles but as I was climbing up a hill side the fourth missile clipped my rotors so I ejected. Anyway out from behind the trees comes my wing man. He then hovered there until i landed and then left. It seemed like he was making sure i was alright. oh and not related but i somehow hit water then pulled out with minor damage. this was in the editor

so would it be possible to make your iff identify you as friendly to hostile forces. (eg. in BS appearing on radar as friendly to the americans so they ignore you.)

nah the f-18 he was on full after burner following me into the dive but then when we started getting close to the deck i tried to start the engines but couldn't but he died first :P straight into the water

beat your speed with a tail wind (and a hornet on my tail) 655 km/h lets just say the hornet couldn't keep up :P didn't lose control but couldn't start my engines back up due to bullet damage

well if you couldn't get it off the ground knowledge of the weapons systems would be useful. Say you were captured by the russian army or something and escaped. I'd head straight for the nearest KA-50 and open fire with the 2A42. Then I would risk it and fire up the shark and try to fly out of there. But that will never happen.

well actually it is simple enough to pop them an email. I asked about thrust vectoring a while back and got a reply from the head of customer services. The typhoon is built by a private company so they should be able to be convinced it is for a good reason.

DCS: Tomcat It is unclassified so could be made properly and had the Aim-54 which iirc was the longest ranged missile.

Ok so I was just playing about in the editor with me vs 2 apaches. Anyway to cut a long story short. I had disabled the gun of one of them with my gun and I was coming in to finish him off. Anyway I got a bit carried away and was basically in a suicide dive towards him. So i started shooting then when I saw I was going to hit him I yanked back hard on the stick. Next thing I hear the sound it makes when you hit hit something. So I go to the outside view cause the chopper seems to be flying fine and when I look I see the apache I was just shooting spinning out of control missing his tail. The tail of my KA50 was a total mess so it seems like in a moment of sheer luck I sliced the tail clean off his apache. So I was wondering has anyone done this before and is it really possible or a flaw within the sim. Either way it was impressive. Then the other apache shot me down.

exactly. You would win cause your chopper would distract other people with it's beauty and make them crash or get shot :D

no way they take those into combat :lol: they look too amazing to take into a fight

sadly the original airwolf was destroyed in a crash in germany in 1994. It was converted to a medical helicopter and crashed in a storm killing all on board
