It's a bore launched ATGM which is carried by the T-80.

There were screenshots showing the 1st person artillery having a range/gun elevation scale, but I cannot figure out how to activate it, assuming it's actually in the game right now.
-
Has anyone got the artillery targeting system (the range/elevation display) working?
-
They should implement the World of Tanks damage modeling system, where my shells deflect off the wings of a mosquito, while their crew can fart in my general direction and destroy my tank instantly.
-
I'm not particularly familiar with the mechanics of the F-15 so i assumed it rolls with the smaller wing like shapes at the tail, close to the rudder.
Correct, it moves the stabilators differentially for roll control.

Lifting body is the correct term, not flying wing. According to Wikipedia, the fuselage of an F-14 produces approximately 40 to 60 percent of the aerodynamic lifting surface depending on the wing sweep position.
-
It's also something that's easier done with an aircraft that doesn't have to deal with all the single engine prop handling issues.
-
Oh, and in case anyone complains about the noise... it could always be worse. :D
-
Yep spot on - the two sounds are quite distinctly heard there.
BTW - how do you link directly to a time in the vid like that?
Nate
Right click on the video and select Copy video URL at current time.
Found two other nice videos of whistling P-51's:
On the comments for the first video someone claim it's the ammo ejector ports whistling, which seems plausible. Do they fill those in on the planes without guns, or are they left open?
-
The clearest example of there being two different whistles is here:
There is the very loud howl which appears to be related to angle of attack (the one people suspect is the gun ports whistling,) the second is the relatively quiet and higher pitched whine.
-
I still don't understand why that makes a difference. Anyone?
I wonder if it's a bug, as I would assume the game mode version of the plane should have the same power, if not more, than the realistic mode.
-
Just watched your track and couldn't figure out what the problem was until I took control... you were using the game flight mode. Turn that off and you'll suddenly find all the missing power.

The booster coil operates independently, notice the adjustment diagram at http://www.scribd.com/doc/34812228/P51D-Mustang-Maintenance-Manual#page=231 and the instructions on the next page. It appears to use a built-in motor or solenoid to trigger a contact breaker to fire the coil rapidly, "turn adjustment screw until there is a steady shower of sparks".
And, on page http://www.scribd.com/doc/34812228/P51D-Mustang-Maintenance-Manual#page=362 , figure 391, power from the 28.5 volt bus goes through the ignition switch to both the starter solenoid and the booster coil.

If you're interested in learning how planes fly, "See How It Flies" is nice.

Don't forget to use rCtrl-Enter to turn on the control indicator, that way you can see if the game your stick is actually off-center or not.
If the stick actually is centered, you'll need to learn to use the aircraft's trim controls to balance out the torque from the engine, or else try to convince the developers to see the error of their ways and make a P-38L simulator for relaxing, torque-free flight.

An A-10C went down without much of a fight:
-
If you just want the centering force to work with your MS FFB2, pause the sim once you're in the cockpit, alt-tab to the desktop and run and then close the FFTest.exe file that's in the DCS World\bin folder. That should reset the force feedback on the stick so you'll have centering force in game when you alt-tab back.
-
Do real A10 pilots have a zoom button.I think not.
This game is what i call a proper sim so its not going to have a false zoom that you cant do with your own eyes
Also, you should uninstall the sim and never run it again if you die too.

Cycle A-A target lets you set the gun sight to match the wingspan of your target so that it gives you proper lead indications. FLIR autofocus refocuses the FLIR, but I'm not really sure why it's even there as I can't remember the FLIR ever going out of focus under normal use.

There are no MI-24s or AH-64s in that mission. There are MI-28s which look a bit like Apaches.
-
Here's how I handled them:
-
now here's something that inevitably almost always happens, I'm leveled to the horison but this happens to me
Pull and hold the knob with the right mouse button and it'll right itself.

Dead AI climbs infinitely

The AI A-10C (I haven't tested other planes) will spiral up out of the atmosphere, causing the game to freeze if you let it go high enough, if the pilot ejects while it's in a steep climb. The final part of the fight in the attached track is around 200 seconds, where we both go into a vertical climb and I apparently knock both his engines out causing him to eject, and yet continue to climb. I exited the mission before he climbed too high to avoid having the game doing anything weird and preventing me from saving the track.
