I have a problem where after a random amount of time in a training mission the writing giving the instructions will blank out and just be replaced by white bars where the text should be.

When I go to exit the mission the text in the box is also blanked out.

I have card drivers up to date.

I am using NVidia 9600GT 512MB with XP SP3

Further to this, is there any way of getting hold of the text from the training missions without actually playing them? That way I could just copy it down and read it, filling in the blanks.

You can open them in the mission editor and go through the triggers. The text at the top right is shown via the "Message" action.

How much time does it take to blank them out? Or does it very between 'straight away' and 'a long time'? The messages do disappear of their own accord, generally shortly after the voice sample has finished.

Does this problem occur even if you pause the game (with the Pause key) to read them?

Edit: when this occurs, are all the subsequent messages blanked out in this manner, or do the next instructions appear and then have a random chance of becoming garbled?

Thanks.

The messages vary as to how long it takes them to blank out. Sometimes it won't happen at all and sometimes they're like right from the outset. The messages are literally white oblongs where the text should be, it's not just that they have timed out. Pausing makes no difference - the text in the pause box is blanked out as well.

Once it's blanked out it stays blanked out.

Okay, well the last thing then is to ensure you're using the most recent videocard drivers from nvidia, and your DirectX 9 installation is up to date (by running this).

You can also try installing the 32-bit VC++ runtime package linked in this post. Probably unlikely to impact graphical glitches, but you never know.

If none of that helps, Start -> Run -> "dxdiag" and use the Save all information button to create a report, and attach it to a post in this thread along with the graphical options you have selected in the game.

One of our closed-beta testers created a nice little program that can extract all of the texts from a mission, including triggers, and export them into a .txt file. Can't guarantee functionality in Warthog, but last time I tried it, everything worked fine.
