Error Launcher.exe

Hey, been playing the game for some time now, so imagine my surprise when the single player won't load due to an unspecified error with Launcher.exe. I hit the shortcut for SP and it starts to load then crashes to desktop.

I took a peek at the Error.log and it says Config\autoexec.cfg does not exist. I took a look in \config and it surely does not exist. However, I knoiw I didn't delete it, so what gives?

I have this error too, I don't know why...

I also have the same message in the log file but it does not affect the running of my version in anyway. I had assumed that it was an acceptable error message that had no negative consequence in the running of the game in either SP or MP.

Please check installed codec packs. Some of them may cause problems while loading SP.

I don't installed codec packs. I use only the codec packs of Vista integrated. I reinstalled the game again, don't start. I reinstalled the Vista x64 and the game, but the error is real, too. Plz, help me. I bought the game today from the homepage and don't run this stuff...

UAC issue?

@ronnydown: some people reported problems with the 9.1 and 9.2 Catalyst drivers. Please try disabling Catalyst A.I. or setting it to standard, and if that doesn't help, revert back to 8.11 or 8.12 drivers.

Yes, thanx. I disabled the Catalyst A.I. in the 9.2 driver (I will try switch it to standard, how work with it) and the stuff is running!

I recently upgraded my nVidia drivers, thats about the only change I made. Any suggestions? Are the new nVidia drivers causing this?

Could be. Please try another driver version and report back.

I also had this happen with the most recent 9.2 ATI Radeon driver. I went back to the last of the 8 series and it is back to working again,

Same error and same message as message #1 in the error log in the temp folder. This is also after having installed the older 8.12 Catalyst drivers and disabled Catalyst A.I. Even enabling, with 'standard' setting, was of no help.

Still not flying with my Windows XP sp3 session.

UAC issue?

Reaper could have right if you try fly in Vista64. Go to Control Panel, in the search box type "user" and choose "Turn User Account Control (UAC) on or off" below where it will appear. Uncheck the option box to disable the feature.

But it might be an issue of bad driver uninstalling. You should properly clean your drivers with some prog like driver cleaner when switching to earlier ati dd.

Ati drivers are the problem

Got it working: Went down each previous release of ATI drivers til one worked. Settled on the 8.43 version. (rather old!)

In game framerate meter says ~27 fps at Medium Graphic settings with 1920 x 1200 resolution at start of Instant Action scenario, cockpit view.

Off to the training sessions....

No dice, rolled back the drivers with no love from the DCS Launcher. Have no idea what went wrong, haven't changed anything I can remember.

SP will not load, MP loads fine.

Tried a system restore? There might have been changes made in the OS that you are not aware of since Windows by default does not prompt you for permission to download and install updates.

i have the same problem like the other in this treath.

i have all listed tricks and ideas here tested, include the different ATI drivers and CCC softwares. but the singleplayer dont work.

the multiplayer works perfect whit all different driver tests

asus ati radeon 3870x2 ati catalyst 9.2 (curently) DD 8.85

vista ultimate 32bit

4gb Ram

1tb hd

all driver are actual

no other system problems

no errors in error list

have someone any other ideas

I'm just going to say a big old "me too". I just spent the last 5 hours trying everything listed here (and then some) but I either get the launcher.exe error, or it just quits out right away. And like others, the MP works fine, the SP doesn't.

Any answers Devs? Looks like I'm not the only one with the Launcher.exe crash. Whats the deal?

Probably not related, but during a mobo update, I'd installed drivers for a sound card that I had to end up removing. Forgot to delete the drivers before reenabling the mobo sound and drivers. Having duplicate sound drivers caused Launcher to crash. Deleting all drivers, running driver sweeper in Safe mode, and then reinstalling the mobo sound driver fixed the problem; Launcher now works a charm.

my launcher.exe won't start. Multiplayer works fine. latest Nvidia drivers on the lates Windows 7 built.

Solved it: a simple reboot made my day.... It's as simple as in the good ole Windows 95 days... ;)

I tried the latest release of ati drivers: return to the initial problem! Multiplayer works fine; apparently MP goes directly to the dsc exe, not so with Single Player. Single player will not Launch.

As per this thread I modified the other tweaks of the CCC: A.I. settings etc but to no avail.

The driver that I did get to work is so old it screws up graphics in my other games (OpenFalcon to name one)

Starting to think the problem is with DSC BS and it's Launcher for SinglePlayer mode.....

Me too. I would just like to know if the Devs are planning on fixing this. I can be patient waiting for a patch, but I would like to know if a patch is forthcoming. So far no word on this.
