xjiks Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Hi, yesterday when flying MP with two other players I noticed a blue line ending with some kind of a cake moving on the TAD. The blue line was connected to another plane icon, and the cake was moving as the other plane was moving. Can someone tell me what it is exactly, and quicksteps to 1/ Change the blue line to another plane displayed on the TAD 2/ Activate or disactivate "my" blue line so other players may see it. Any information welcome! L'important n'est pas de tuer, mais de survivre. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] if you read this you are too curious
SmokeyTheLung Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 (edited) What you're seeing is your wingmen broadcasting their SPIs. To broadcast yours press DMS left long (in the upper right hand corner of your TAD, it should say SPI on [or something along those lines]) The fact that it was moving around was probably due to bad SPI etiquette from your wingmen. They might have left it on while still searching for targets. Generally during MP I try to broadcast for as short a time as is possible, so as to not clutter up everyones TAD As to question 1, you can't alter your wingmans SPI, he can change it's location or turn it on or off Edited June 7, 2011 by SmokeyTheLung 1 System specifications: Computer, joystick, DCS world, Beer
xjiks Posted June 7, 2011 Author Posted June 7, 2011 Ok, but isn't SPI supposed to be fixed on the ground? Here it was moving all the time? L'important n'est pas de tuer, mais de survivre. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] if you read this you are too curious
Insanatrix Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Not if it has been reset or just flipped from STBY to A-G mode.
xjiks Posted June 7, 2011 Author Posted June 7, 2011 Ok, thanks, I will see what it does in the next MP sessions L'important n'est pas de tuer, mais de survivre. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] if you read this you are too curious
hassata Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 It will also move if your wingman is in IIFCC Hud submode where the gun reticle is the SPI. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Rider1 Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Good tip about turning off the SPI. It never occurred to me that when I am broadcasting my SPI unnecessarily, the other guys are seeing me fumbling around with my targeting techniques.. or lack thereof. :joystick: I will definitely be more careful about turning that off unless I have something important to point out.
slug88 Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 It will also move if your wingman is in IIFCC Hud submode where the gun reticle is the SPI. When your HUD is providing the SPI, the SPI is determined by the TDC (a slewable square drawn on the HUD), not the gun reticle. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
hassata Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 There's a sub-mode that allows for the reticle to provide the SPI. HUD as SOI, then TMS aft short I believe. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Juuba Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Also, if you're scanning for targets with the TGP with it as SOI -> cake moves. Or your HUD is SOI and you swap waypoints. Many reasons :) Sometimes I Amaze even Myself!
ED Team Olgerd Posted June 8, 2011 ED Team Posted June 8, 2011 Additionally broadcasted SPI will constantly move on TAD if you set as SPI Maverick without locked target. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] К чему стадам дары свободы? Их должно резать или стричь. Наследство их из рода в роды Ярмо с гремушками да бич.
