Hi Folks,

I don't know if you guys have seen it before but here is a documentary about paramedic jumpers (PJs) in Afghanistan. I saw it recently on Youtube and was really amazed by these guys and their tough job. I have only one word for them : respect !

Here's the link to the 1st episode (1 of 6).

It's a very interesting show indeed, I've watched almost all 6 episodes in the last two days. I have gained a huge amount of respect for the PJs and their job.

But is it just me or is the storytelling rather boring? They could have limited the show to just one episode, there's hardly anything new in the other episodes. Each develops the exact same way. There's hardly any chronological order in the episodes. A lot of things that would have deserved some explaining were left untouched. On the other hand, things that had been explained in the first episode were explained again and again in each of the consecutive episodes. This type of storytelling, it seems, is made for hyperactive and oblivious 10 year olds that must be kept from zapping to another channel at any cost.

I'm not saying it's a bad show, but it's a shame because they could have shown and explained so much more within 6 episodes if they had just chosen to do so.

Yurgon,

I came to think the same thing after 2-3 episodes. It seems that the story repeats itself (and it is in some ways, although the situations slightly differ from one case to another (child to be rescued, landing zone cleared or not, interaction with ANP and ANA...)).

Probably they could have shown more in 6 épisodes. I'm not sure and I don't know. What's for sure is that the time has been taken to follow each of the presented cases of intervention and each of the protagonists. That last point is what probably creates the feeling of a show.

That doesn't take out anything from the fact that it is a good documentary and that these guys deserve our respect
