Loving the force feedback effect of the Aileron Spring Stops

Just wanted to drop a note of praise for Belsimtek's implementation of the Aileron Spring Stops in the flight control stick of the F-5E.

I am using a MS Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 joystick and the implementation is simply brilliant!

It feels very realistic, at approximately 60% of each half of the roll axis you encounter the feeling of reaching the spring stops (a detent of sorts) and then the requirement for more lateral force on the stick to go past them and hold the stick in place is simply amazing!!

I am familiar with the dynamic changes in the strength of the return to center (greater airflow = increased force and vice versa) but I had no idea it was possible to model 2 forces on the same half axis! This is the first force feedback using flight sim that I have ever encountered this!

Thank you Blesimtek!! you guys are geniuses!!! :smartass: :joystick:

I am very happy for pre-purchasing this module and hope to continue to do so for all Belsimtek future modules :D

Salute!

Just bought a sidewinder 2 FFB stick from a friend, it'll be here in a few days. I look forward to checking out these effects myself for the first time! Anything I need to know as a new FFB stick owner?

I never flew the F-5 but was involved with many engine runs while on active duty with the USAF as a crew chief, I don't remember ever feeling this when the controls were cycled. It was all left or right with no detents anywhere.

Maybe its unique to the joystick,,,,
