CARGO UNHOOKED IN ZONE broken?

Hi,

Just started to enjoy the external load capabilities of the Mi-8 and Huey.

But I can't get the "CARGO UNHOOKED IN ZONE" to work like described in the manual.

According to that, when being within 2km of the drop point (no matter the size of trigger zone) a flare is supposed to mark the spot, and within 50m or 75m (inconsistencies in the manual) the AI crew chief is supposed to give lateral and longitudinal directions in addition to vertical.

I never get the flare or directions exept the vertical.

I have tested with trigger type ONCE and SWITCHED, and with MESSAGE TO ALL as action.

The manual seams outdated regarding the sequence of creating triggers. Have other things changed to? Do I need additional settings for the trigger or is CARGO UNHOOKED IN ZONE simply broken?

Which version of the game?

The smoke in the unhook zone feature (trigger type "once") was very unreliable a couple of weeks ago, but the 1.5.5 update 4 was supposed to fix that, though I haven't confirmed it yet (I've been told by other fellow sim-pilot it did).

I don't think it works in 2.0.5, which is somewhat behind the schedule with bug fixing again.

I did a lot of testing yesterday, first with a UNIT INSIDE ZONE and SIGNAL FLARE in a zone close to my starting FARP and pickup. If i remember correctly (i might not, might be a created memmory after several hours of testing), when changing to CARGO UNHOOKED IN ZONE it did seam to work ones, both flare and directions. Then I moved the zone 4.5km away and haven't got it working from that on, even tried deleting the zone and triggers and creating new ones.

Also, the action for the trigger to give a message is played correctly.

Uh, played Your mission, and mine, which used to work correctly before. It seems that smoke in unhook zone feature is broken again. It works when the zone is close to pickup position (within maybe 3-4 km), but move it a couple of km away and the smoke doesn't work anymore. It also doesn't seem to work when pilot is set to "client"... again.

BST guys, could You take a look at it?

I see, good to have it confirmed even if I rather would have done some things wrong myself. Tanks for testing.

The manual state that the smoke is supposed to start when within 2km, maybe thats the "magic distance" for some reason? If the pickup is within that radius it'll work, if outside not? I'll will try it out next time I fly.

I have done some more tests and the 2km radius definitely seems involved some how.

But it's more to it. Number of triggers, what load are used, order of pickups if different loads, what load is picked up first, etc. All these seems to affect the behavior and needs more investigation by the developers.

Also, when the CARGO UNHOOKED IN ZONE (CUIZ) is working, the selected action (MESSAGE TO ALL) actually isn't working as I stated above, but when CUIZ doesn't work, the action does.

May I request for the forum administrators to please move this thread to the "Bugs and problems" subforum?

So, some more testing done. In general all symptoms mentioned above are due to two issues:

1) I have to restart DCSW entirely if i like to refly my mission with a working trigger. Have tried to restart from "missions" menu, ME and refly, none of them work. So during recurring testing I need, after first flight, do any changes in ME if applicable, save, restart DCSW, refly.

2) The limit for picking up the load is within 3km. Outside and it won't work. Maybe if the load is picked up outside, then dropped inside, then pick it up again? Will test this further.

Therefore many of my previous conclusions are somewhat wrong due to not being aware of particularly nr 1.
