Shahdoh Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 A friends 2.5 beta server is having issues with it denying connection after it has been empty for around 15-20 minutes. It takes a fresh restart of DCS to get it going again. Once it has a fresh start, people can join and be on the server for several hours and everything is fine until everyone leaves. The error in the DCS log on the clients side is: 2018-03-17 14:16:24.751 INFO NET: client has started 2018-03-17 14:16:52.404 ERROR NET: Connection failed with code -10060 2018-03-17 14:16:52.406 INFO NET: client has stopped Any ideas what might be causing this? Thanks
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted March 17, 2018 ED Team Posted March 17, 2018 I am guessing as I do not know the codes but https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/191143/10060-connection-timed-out-error-with-proxy-server-or-isa-server-on-sl Winsock timeout errors may occur on slow, congested, or high latency Internet links with Microsoft Proxy Server or ISA Server. Shahdoh Posted March 17, 2018 Author Posted March 17, 2018 Not seeing how this explains that we can connect to a fresh load of DCS without problems and then just because the server is empty for around 15 minutes or so, it stops allowing connections. Ping times are all fine and stable to the server, usually around 100 for myself. This issue atm is 100% repeatable on this server.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted March 17, 2018 ED Team Posted March 17, 2018 Not sure either to be honest, never seen this before. is the server a dedicated machine? what are its specs, connection speed? Give me as much info as possible and I will try to get a ED team member to take a look. thanks Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Shahdoh Posted March 17, 2018 Author Posted March 17, 2018 Will point the owner of the server to this thread. He has been busy with other things so was trying to get a heads up if this was a known issue. Thanks.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted March 17, 2018 ED Team Posted March 17, 2018 apparently I have seen it before :) ( I am getting older and memory is not as good as it used to be lol ) take a look here, turned out to be a firewall setting in this example https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=186651&highlight=code+-10060 Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Shahdoh Posted March 17, 2018 Author Posted March 17, 2018 Yeah, I seen that post actually, but since we can get in initially it didn't seem the same, but will have him check his AV all the same. Thanks again.
Shahdoh Posted March 20, 2018 Author Posted March 20, 2018 Server has 16 gig of ram and is on a network with around 60mbs up/down. Everything is well within specs of recommended hardware (Owner has been to busy to respond to this thread). After some further testing, I do not think it is a DCS error but some setting on either the PC or router. We kept a client on the server overnite and even through the server refreshing the mission every 3 hours, the client stayed logged on, but more importantly, other clients were able to connect as well. So, the question is, what setting in the computer or router would cause a network timeout after 20 minutes of inactivity where the server is still seen on the master list, but will not let the client connect after that period of inactivity?
Shahdoh Posted March 25, 2018 Author Posted March 25, 2018 I attached a DCS.log from from the server that is having the issue. In it you can see where there were clients on it earlier in the session, then around the 23:45 hour mark, one of the last active clients left the server. After that, no one was able to get back on the server until the next day when I had the server owner connect with another client computer from within his local network. He was able to get right in, where I could not in the same timeframe. But then the server crashed as soon as he attempted to join in an a/c slot. Thanks for any help you can provide.dcs.rar

Shahdoh Posted March 28, 2018 Author Posted March 28, 2018 Thanks for taking a look at this. It seems there was an issue with the port forwarding after all. Was told that it was set and being that we could get in initially, didn't think to check further until all other options were gone. After getting a look at the setting of the router, found some odd options taken (Verizon Router). Removed them and put in standard options and so far so good.
