NRG-Vampire Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Can someone please walk me through the steps for making the Pinkie switch act like a button? I want to use it for activating auto hover on/off I have same problem since iv just installed new SD6 driver with Profile Editor 6.6.2.0. I want my Pinkie Switch back as a Fire Button too. :helpsmilie: I found these: http://www.saitekforum.com/showthread.php?t=16100 http://www.saitekforum.com/showthread.php?t=16724 http://www.saitekforum.com/showthread.php?t=16698 write to saitekforum
hyperfighter Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 (edited) i really wouldnt do that, your pinky should act as a shift button. ex. pressing button 2 = trimming while holding the pinkie and pressing button 2 = hover. holding pinky plus the trim button (square black button on the stick next to pov2) will put u in auto-hove-hold on or off... i strongly recommend not using the pinky to act as a single button. because then u would only be able to use half the buttons possible, think of pinky as a "shift" key i added this link to my profile so u can load it and see if u like it (press a button and look on the mfd to see what it does) i am using profiler 6.0.10.7. . http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8MOQS3GZ u can also load it in the profiler to see how its programmed. plz leave my name in the profile when sharing (hommage to my hard work ;P) Edited February 23, 2009 by hyperfighter
murdoc311 Posted February 23, 2009 Author Posted February 23, 2009 (edited) Thanks for the help guys. I guess I can just do like hyperfighter suggested. EDIT: On a side note. I'm having a really weird problem when assigning keys to the x52 from the bs options. I changed my left hat switch (upper one on the stick) to center camera but it is still centering the SHKVAL like it was still the old setting. I cleared the key before reassigning so I don't know whats going wrong. Any ideas? Edited February 23, 2009 by murdoc311
WynnTTr Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Hmm, dunno about the normal one, but with the pro, any button can be the shiftstate, whether it's on the throttle or joystick. If you want the pinkie to be a normal button, you have to get delete all of the shiftstates associated with it. Once that's done, you can program it normally.
glottis Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 I actually already answered this in the other thread you made... you simply need to delete the shift-states in the profile editor...

glottis Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 come to think of it you did. i simply forgot, sorry. No worries. Did you get it all sorted in the end?
Chillspider Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I used to use the pinkie as a button because everything i needed at first fits on my joystick on 1 mode so the way to use the pinkie switch is not run a profile and go to options in game and go to whatever function that you want to bind to it and just set it. As long as there's not profile selected the pinkie switch is recognized in game as a button. But now i have a need for more buttons so i use it now and its a great tool for example i have one button Uncage Shkval and if i hold the pinkie and press same button it resets it . So me personally i find it more useful as a shift rather than a regular button Dell XPS 630i w/ Dell nForce 650i Sli ,Intel Q9650 @3.0 ,6.0 GB Ram @800Mhz, 2xGeforce 9800 GT 512 MB ,Saitek X52, Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals ,Dell 24" 1080P HD monitor, Klipsch THX Pro Media 2.1 ,TrackIR 4, Logitech MX518 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
glottis Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I agree, the shift is very useful. But for BS I prefer it as a button because (with TrackIR) it's so easy to glance down and flick switches using the mouse, that I find I don't really need shifted buttons. Also I like the psuedo-realism of taking your hand off the stick to fiddle with stuff that's not on the real KA-50 cyclic (kind of silly logic I know, but meh...)
AlphaOneSix Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I don't use it as shift at all. I use it for the brakes.
murdoc311 Posted February 24, 2009 Author Posted February 24, 2009 No worries. Did you get it all sorted in the end? Yeah, I went ahead and used it as a shift key and made auto hover mode 1 pinkie + C fire. Still have issues with the Ka-50 (sometimes) spinning out of control after engaging auto hover. Also for some reason even if altitude hold is engaged I still find myself slamming the cyclic forward to avoid smacking into the ground. I seem to slowly lose altitude. But other than these miner annoyances I'm actually having a great deal of fun. :)
rapid Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I gave you a good SST PRO file with the shift pinkie in use, not sure why you want to try and disengage it! spyda Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 i'm using it for trim, what are others using for trim on the x52? HP TouchSmart IQ816 / 25.5" HD touch screen / 9600GS 512/ Core 2 Duo 2.16 / 4GB RAM / VISTA 64 / CH Fighterstick
glottis Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 i'm using it for trim, what are others using for trim on the x52? I use the button (C?) that's between the two cyclic hats. I tried using pinkie as trim for a bit but it didn't stick for some reason.
WynnTTr Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 I use the pinkie for trim to. I learnt the 'hold Trimmer to make course changes' way. Frees up my thumb for rocket/cannon attacks.
rapid Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 i'm using it for trim, what are others using for trim on the x52? Then you lose the shift function that enables you to expand the the use of other buttons. WynnTTr Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Then you lose the shift function that enables you to expand the the use of other buttons. You do know that you can assign any button to shiftstate? My shiftstate is the i button on my throttle. I feel that's a more natural button for me to press as shift.

glottis Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 With the clickable cockpit, I really don't find many uses for the 3 modes or the shift state (I use them for other games, but not Black Shark).
spyda Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 does any one use the 2 clicks on the trigger? HP TouchSmart IQ816 / 25.5" HD touch screen / 9600GS 512/ Core 2 Duo 2.16 / 4GB RAM / VISTA 64 / CH Fighterstick
AlphaOneSix Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 I do, I use the first detent to fire the cannon, and the second detent to release weapons.
WynnTTr Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Yes there are 3 modes for every button, the shift state adds more expansion of the selected button mode. And the pinkie is the default shift. yes there are 3 modes, and shift makes that 6 modes. And you can assign shift to any button and just have the pinkie as a normal button (ie Trimmer). You don't lose shift functionality if you don't want to.
slug88 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I don't use it as shift at all. I use it for the brakes. Pinky-braking is the way God intended it. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
