I'm having some problems with setting targets with the shkval. Sometimes it works perfectly, sometimes it won't lock the targets and sometimes the system gets a life on it's own and skipping all over the place while I'm unable to influence where the camera is pointed.

Laser > ON

Cannon > MOV

Mov ground target > ON

Master Arm > YES

Weapons > Outer side (Y)

shkval uncaged > YES

Using RALT + ,./; I change the targeting position. With ENTER I set a target (tank).

It seems that "randomly" the RALT + ,./; don't work. Sometimes the shkval starts spinning over the area and I'm unable to stop it. I have the same problem with using the cannon. Did parabellum's tutorial mission a few times, first time it wouldn't lock on the tanks, second time it all worked perfectly, third time it wouldn't lock again and I couldn't control the shkval anymore etc.

I hope someone can help me

I'm pretty sure you don't have to hold down R-ALT to slew the Shkval, unless you custom set those commands. If you didn't, you could be accidentally triggering some other function.

When you say that the Shkval starts "spinning over the area," do you mean that it is slewing left and right by itself, or is there vertical movement aswell? You may have accidentally triggered the auto-scan function. I am unsure exactly how to start this function, but I have done it in the past accidentally. I have been unable to purposely initiate the auto-scanning.

Sometimes I have the same issue with the shkval moving very fast in different directions with shkval scan turned off. Try recentering with rctrl-I or just lock it and it will stop moving.

You initiate auto-scan by uncaging the Shkval ('O') and then pressing the uncage button again (this only works if you don't have the HMS active).

manne, I have seen something similar where my Shkval goes crazy and starts randomly tracking to some far-away point. It's not slow like scan mode, it looks like how the Shkval looks when it is tracking to the HMS target, only it's heading to some random spot 40 miles away. It behaved like it would if I had a target point selected with datalink ingress mode on when I uncaged the Shkval, only I could have sworn that ingress mode wasn't on. I have a track saved at home where this happens, I will try to find it after work.

One of the guys in my virtual squadron had the crazy shkval problem. I finally convinced him to send me the track, and as soon as I took control of his chopper, the problem went away. I diagnosed it as a controller issue. He took shvkal slew OFF of the ministick on his X52 and the problem has not occurred again.

I tried to re-create the problem today but haven't been able to yet. Maybe it was a controller issue after all. From now on I also unplug any other controller in my PC, just in case.

you can get the shkval spinning around the place if your heli is also spinning.

this can easily happen if you've got pedals and you're concentrating on the tv screen.

was your target close to the maximum azimuth range? if it goes outside it then the shkval starts to spin

The CH Products Pro Throttle's mini-stick will do this unless at least a dead-zone in each axis is 14 or greater using the CH Control Manager and/or maybe in the Axis Tune in Options/Controls , Axis Commands.

This just happened to me today randomly in DCS World using the Ka-50 on the 104th's A2G server.

I read this thread and remembered this limitation using the mini-stick.

Sometimes Windows needs to be re-booted as another possibility.

^^ this, is why I left you then rejoined yesterday. I had to readjust my CH mini-stick because shkval was too jumpy to viewfind the target under default axis setting.
