Especially for new pilots.

I am posting this in hopes that more people will see it. There is a new training mission on the DCS download site.

See Evil's post here.

Everyone please say thanks, EvilBivol-1!

Edit:

For those who are unsure how to install this mission. Download the mission. Once downloaded, rename it from <filename>.zip to <filename>.miz. Then copy/move it to one of two places.

Either the main mission folder, C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C\Missions in which case it will be listed when you go into the main Mission screen.

Or your own mission folder, C:\Users\<username>\Saved Games\DCS Warthog\Missions, in which case you will need to change from System Missions to My Missions in the main Mission screen.

Hope this is helpful to those just getting started.

nice work

I might be having trouble with the CTKI though, but the mission seems to hang at the "Quick Look" to DSMS part of the tutorial

Fix for DSMS Quick Look bug

There is a bug with the training mission where it hangs at the DSMS Quick Look, as Wolf Rider mentions.

You can fix it one of 2 ways, on the fly or permanent:

1. On the Fly during the mission:

The mission expects BOTH MFCDs to display the DSMS page. When you quick look the DSMS using Coolie Down Long, only the left MFCD displays the DSMS page. I bet you your right one is still on the TGP page. To get the mission to continue, you have to (temporarily) set your right MFCD to display the DSMS page.

To do so, on the right MFCD, PRESS AND HOLD OSB-12 (MSG) until DISPLAY PROGRAM appears. Then press OSB-18 (DSMS) once to highlight it, then press OSB-12 (MSG) again (don't hold it this time). All that this does is change OSB-12 function from MSG to DSMS.

Now press OSB-12 (DSMS) again on the right MFCD. To display the DSMS page.

You can now safely do Coolie Down Long for a few seconds so that the LEFT MFCD displays the DSMS page. As soon as you finish with that command, the mission will proceed.

You can, at your discretion, change the OSB-12 function back to MSG, but it's not really needed for this mission.

2. Permanent fix

Open the mission file in the Mission Editor page, and go to the "Set rules for trigger" option on the left hand column.

Scroll down the triggers until you see the one called "1 ONCE (Quick-look chk)".

Click on it, you will see 3 Conditions appear on the center window.

You need to DELETE the 3rd condition (the one with MFCD_RIGHT_PAGE), then save the mission.

Hope this helps a few.

Amazing. Thanks. Also, if you use "2. Permanent Fix" be sure to place the mission in your My Missions file. If it's in the regular missions file the system won't allow you to save that change. I had to move it.
