ED Team BIGNEWY Posted August 15, 2012 ED Team Posted August 15, 2012 Hi all I did not know if I should put this in the wish list or the bugs and problems, but as it is a problem for me here we go. I run three 19" monitors in portrait mode 2700 x 1440 ( each screen 900x1440 in game res of 2900x1440 adjusted for bezels ) The problem I have is that the gui menus do not adjust to fit inside my screen so I can not use some of the menu's drop down boxes, for example the single player mission select is not visible and not click-able. However when I go into multiplayer the GUI adjusts to my resolution, I have had a look in the .lua but could not find a way of adjusting it when not in multiplayer, I do have a support ticket in to see if the support guys have a solution. PeterP Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 (edited) I wouldn't expect a different answer than " DCS only supports a min of 1024x768 px = VGA Display - your main-screen don't matches this . We consider to add this info to the minimum system requirements. So no one will be surprised it if it doesn't works when running in 600x480. Thank you for contacting the support team!" ;) The workaround is to edit the missioeditor.lua so the launcher-GUI starts 1024x768 windowed and you will be able to move it around when you can't reach a button - but the Sim will start like you set it up in the options. >>> Fix: adding a custom resolution to in-game options EDIT: OK,OK OK! I made a test with a 800x1280 display and saw that even if I set the Launcher-Gui to run in windowed mode it will cover whole main-screen and don't let you reach the sides.... because the Gui is designed for 1024x768 minimum. So it is really only possible at min 1024x768 to run it without bugs. Only workaround is to set a profile (Ultramon ?) to change the screen mode to something that has a min of 1024px horizontal when launching DCS. Sorry. Edited August 21, 2012 by PeterP
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted August 21, 2012 Author ED Team Posted August 21, 2012 Thanks for trying Peterp, I fear I my be stuck this way, for now to play single player missions I either open up the editor or for other missions just run them as lan so I can at least select missions it bothers me a little that I can use a custom resolution for multiplayer GUI but not Single Forum rules - DCS Crashing? PeterP Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 (edited) First : are you able to force a Resolution that is 1024 horz. or higher to one of the screens? If yes - try this: a) Create a profile for DCS in the CCC that changes the desktop to this kind of setting when you start DCS (min 1024px at the main-screen ) . and you don't have to worry when you start the simulation about this "unusual res" - as SoftTH will take care of it when it kicks in and change it to the one configured in your softTHconfig. b) aren't you able to create a eyefinityx3 portrait profile including bezel-management? If yes: switch to it when starting DCS but configure the Gui like I said: to open only windowed - so you will be able to move the window and reach areas that are covered by the bezels. and you wont need SoftTH any-more. ED Team BIGNEWY Posted August 21, 2012 Author ED Team Posted August 21, 2012 (edited) I will give it a go, I dont like using eyefinity, because when I am working on web stuff and have multiple windows open I like to be able to snap them to each screen EDIT Thanks Peterp I have changed my middle res to 1024x1280 and can now use the drop down boxes again, softTH still works for my ingame res of 2900x1440 :) It makes my main monitor look ugly but will have to do I would rep you but as usual it will not allow me lol Edited August 21, 2012 by BIGNEWY Forum rules - DCS Crashing? That's why I said you should create a extra profile for DCS - you can even assign a hotkey to switch between these settings. :) Look what I'm talking off - no need to spent the life in sorrow! :) : Edited August 21, 2012 by PeterP
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted August 21, 2012 Author ED Team Posted August 21, 2012 Thanks Peter, all works now, thanks for the advice. Its a shame DCS does not have setting's that are compatible for multi screen users, it seems we are always trying to find work around's, and I know that can put a lot of people off a product. But we are passionate about what we do and we stick to it, its a outstanding simulator after all :) Forum rules - DCS Crashing? ED Team BIGNEWY Posted October 2, 2012 Author ED Team Posted October 2, 2012 choosing items from the menu seems to be fixed in 1.2.1 as the drop down resizes to fit inside the window. Thank you to the ED team for this. Forum rules - DCS Crashing?
