LtMacGowan Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Dumb question but what makes the pitch ladder drift left and right on my HUD? Some times I'm fly straight ahead and the pitch ladder is crammed all the way to the far left or right of the HUD.
maxmax Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 I think it's wind. Strong sidewinds make the ladder drift to one side, afaik.
Yskonyn Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 (edited) It's wind indeed. The aircraft will fly at a wind angle. I e. G. I it will point it's nose into the wind. I if you touch the rudder you can see the effect on your pitch ladder. Dethmagnetic Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 The pitch ladder is always horizontally aligned with the TVV (the flight path marker). If the TVV isn't pointed straight ahead for any reason (normally crosswind, uncoordinated turns, excessive drag on one side) the HUD will move from side to side.
