It's surprising the popular B-25 Mitchell is not already in DCS. (probably on ED's "want" list, but for time and resources). I would suggest this be a dual-model module. The PBJ-1J US Navy/Marines version with glass nose and APS-2 surface search radar, and the much better-known US Army Air Force B-25J without radar. Not much physical, systems or flight model difference between them. I think the PBJ-1J would be more interesting and useful in Marianas, Normandy, and Channel maps for sea search, although it requires an airfield to operate from; it's not a carrier-based aircraft (except for the Gen. Doolittle Raid with B-25B's). Of course, it could be useful in any map for WWII-era operations. This could be a 6-position, multi-crew module with about 12 view positions. Perhaps, optional Jester-like AI crew members for positions not occupied by players...primarily for observations and reporting of threat aircraft and surface contacts, and sighting of land. Also, of course, defensive operations of guns. 1--Nose gunner/bombardier with views from seated position, manning the flexible gun and manning the bombsight views. 2&3--Pilot and Co-pilot positions. 4--Flight Engineer, Navigator position with views from manning the top gun, seated for navigation and window down into bomb bay. 5--Radio (Radar?) Operator with views from seated at radios, left waist gun and right waist gun. 6--Tail Gunner It could cruise at about 200 knots with a top speed of around 235 knots, a range of up to about 1,100 NM and a ceiling of around 24,000 feet. It could carry 1 Mk-13 torpedo externally or 3,000 lbs of bombs internally, such as six 500-lb M64 bombs. It also had 6 forward-firing 50-cal machine guns, besides the 7 defensive guns and racks for four 5-inch HVAR rockets under each outer wing. I would also hope, a functional model of the Norden bombsight...or, at least after an Early Access release. As a PBJ-1J, I think it would be quite a versatile aircraft in DCS WWII. As the B-25J, a low to mid-level bomber. I think the APS-2 radar could be mounted in the nose, on the right wingtip or under the belly, aft of the bomb bay. The latter installation should allow a 360-degree azimuth scan to be displayed on a circular, PPI scope, which displays targets in an easy to interpret, natural-appearing, map-like manner. Range settings of 5, 20, 50 & 100 NM, with range rings of 1, 5, 10 & 20 NM respectively. The radar might be able to detect submarine periscopes from inside of 5 miles; otherwise, ships out to 20-25 miles depending on their size/reflectivity and aspect. I'm not sure where the display scopes were mounted in the aircraft, though. Below: I think the right seat was removed for better viewing of this museum aircraft. Under the left pilot's seat is a crawlway to the nose section. Not seen, below the view of the picture, is the forward entry hatch in the bottom of the fuselage. There is also a bottom hatch aft of the bomb bay. Here is the nose section with the bombsight installed and three 50-cal machine guns. Looking aft, from the radio operator's seat, at the left & right waist guns. I include this picture of a plastic model as an overall view of the arrangement in the fuselage, nose section not shown. ...and, of course, this is the throttle quadrant.

Hi, I am currently deperately trying to get a bomber group to work. I currently have three problems. 1. The very first group (B17-1), the leader of all, is also a set of three B17, (actually like all the other groups). However, it's the only one where the second and third plane are placed far behind the first, and they need many miles to catch up. 2. Just before the carpet bombing, the B17-5 and B17-7 are starting to fall behind without any noticable reason. 3. After the bombing many plances are crashing in each other. Are there three tricks to fix this behaviours? I've attached the mission B17Crash.miz

Trying to get Tu-22Ms to salvo fire ALL their missiles...
AvgeekJoe posted a topic in Mission Editor
I've got this mission where I've got two sets of four Tu-22Ms and they don't fire all their KH-22s all at once but only a few at a time, then they orbit, wait for the USS Porter (a Burke-class AEGIS) to shoot them down, and then fire a few more KH-22s. Any chance to get the Tu-22M Backfires to fire all their missiles upon acquiring the USS Porter? Thanks. -

Hi everyone, With the release of the Kola map, there's a particular aircraft that's currently absent from DCS' roster that I feel would really help flesh out the region for the Cold War era (as well as giving us a Cold War era Soviet bomber that would fit well into the mid and late Cold War period). Primarily, the variants I'm interested in are the: Tu-16K-10-26 [Badger-C Mod] / Tu-16K-26P (KSR-2-5-11) [Badger-G Mod] - these are primarily maritime strike aircraft, armed with long-range anti-ship missiles. The main difference is that the former has a large, long-range radar in its nose and can fire the K-10 [AS-2 Kipper] anti-ship missile. The latter has a glazed nose, typical of bombers of its era and while it can't fire the K-10, it can fire the KSR-2 and -11 [AS-5 Kelt]. Both are able to fire the KSR-5 [AS-6 Kingfish] and both (albeit with the Tu-16K-10-26B version for the former) have conventional bombing capability. Tu-16RM-1 [Badger-D] - this is a maritime reconaissance version which is similar in appearance to the Badger-C (if you were to take the Badger-C, add a couple of radomes to the underside and delete the hardpoints for missiles, you'd be pretty much there). It lacks offensive armament. Tu-16P [Badger-J] - this is an electronic warfare aircraft designed to act as a strike escort. Obviously this would mostly just be decoartive without EW improvements to DCS. Externally it's fairly similar to the Badger-G (if you took the G, deleted the missile hardpoints and added a canoe-shaped radome along with 4 small air intakes to the bottom of it, you'd be pretty much there), like the Badger-D, it would lack offensive armament. The units on the Kola map basing the Tu-16 are the following: 5th Maritime Missile Aviation Division (5th MRAD): 924th Guards Maritime Missile Aviation Regiment (924th GvMRAP) - Tu-16K, Tu-16P. Based at Olenegorsk (previously at Severomorsk-1). 987th Maritime Missile Aviation Regiment (987th MRAP) - Tu-16K. Based at Severomorsk-3. 967th Independent Long-Range Reconaissance Aviation Regiment (967th ODRAP) - Tu-16K-10-26, Tu-16RM. Based at Severomorsk-1. Each aviation regiment having something like 30-40 aircraft each (at least circa 1990). For the former, we would be missing appropriate weapons for them, see the spoiler below:

I would like to suggest the A-20G for a future module. There are several reasons. Firstly it's a single pilot cockpit plus an AI (or multi-crew human) dorsal turret gunner (2 x 50 caliber), which makes for easy crew requirements. The AI could also assist the pilot by calling out fighter threats. The American style radio system is designed for easy single pilot operation, simplifying DCS integration. The nose armament features 4 x 20 mm cannons and 2 x 50 caliber machine guns in the nose for awesome strafing performance. Additional armament can be 12 ATG rockets or up to 4000 pounds of bombs. The 240 Knot cruise speed and 820 NM range are perfect for many mission types. The systems are relatively simple. The aircraft served for no less than 7 nations in every theater of the world, making it usable in the existing Pacific, European, Middle East, and Asian Maps. The aircraft is ideally suited to anti-shipping, low level strafing/rocket attack, and medium level bombing missions. I believe that this aircraft would be enjoyable for a good variety of ground attack missions and would make maximum use of already existing ED maps and resources. Actual pilot operating handbooks and other manuals are easy to source and simple to read. Finally there is an existing airworthy A-20G flying in the united states that could serve as a subject for the project.
