PFunk1606688187 Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 As far as I can tell it works great. How complicated is it to set such a thing up from scratch? Warning: Nothing I say is automatically correct, even if I think it is.
Robin_Hood Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 It takes a few minutes, but it isn't that complicated. Just take a look at the triggers I used and replicate them. Also note that in that mission, I made a holding orbit where the Tanker waits before being summoned to either pattern. You can skip that part if you want. I have a step-by-step tutorial to go with the mission, but it is in French. I could translate it in English if it might help. 2nd French Fighter Squadron
Sabre-TLA Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 We have a couple of missions that replicate the AAR process (Day and Night) based on real procedures (RV Delta - Point Parallel). You can view them here: AFT01 - Air to Air Refueling Day AFT02 - Air to Air Refueling Night They are missions for purchase but we believe the price to be reasonable for the effort and research spent. 1 MapleFlagMissions - Read Our Blog for Updates
KaspeR32 Posted February 18, 2014 Author Posted February 18, 2014 Wow, I never even thought of setting up some radio triggers and have the tanker go to a corresponding waypoint! I haven't seen your mission yet (at work), but can you have the tanker fly back to the "holding orbit" after refueling an aircraft? Lastly, does anyone know if there is a bug right now for the F-15C and air to air refueling? When I request intent to refuel, sometimes the tanker answers and sometimes it doesn't. Very odd. All your answers have been very helpful, thank you guys! As for refueling the F-15C, I only do that every other day, but I didn't have a problem last time I did (multiplayer session on 1.2.7 final a week ago) 2nd French Fighter Squadron
bengo Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Hi, the tanker regurarly surprises me when he starts an unannounced turn while I'm hooked up to him. Shouldn't he send out a warning like "Heads up, tanker is entering turn" (from what sim does this line come from ;-) ) before he turns ? B I always thought that in real life there is no announcement and that pilots are just supposed to deal with it. I could be wrong. B I've heard that in Falcon ;) I am unsure if they should warn you, actually. I assumed yes, but then I may well be wrong. However, they turn smoothly and gently enough, and I don't really have trouble keeping with it (Su-33; it's been a long time since I trier it in the Warthog). It requires a lot of training initially, though. 2nd French Fighter Squadron
