Is it just me or were we once able to jump into any aircraft that we owned in a mission? Now we can only jump into an aircraft if it's on the same side. For example, I was in my A-10C and tried to jump into an Su-25 that I had badly damaged but let live. The game said I couldn't because it's an enemy unit.

 

Not a complaint here. Just an observation.

I don't remember such a thing in DCS World at least, maybe in the old standalone ones, I don't know.

 

I know that the VEAO guys are looking into being able to do walkaround checks on your aircraft and maybe walking from some briefing room or something up to your aircraft, climbing the ladder, getting in and beginning startup.

 

Certainly I'd love to see something like that.

That has absolutely nothing to do with switching aircraft with a keyboard command which is what the OP is talking about, that and the limitation of which aircraft you can switch to.
