Thanks, I was not able to find the file nate mentions, however I found this:

\DCSWorld\Mods\aircrafts\Uh-1H\Cockpit\Scripts\clickabledata.lua

Going to assume the command in somewhere in here, but named differently.

cursor_mode =
{
   CUMODE_CLICKABLE = 0,
   CUMODE_CLICKABLE_AND_CAMERA  = 1,
   CUMODE_CAMERA = 2,
};

clickable_mode_initial_status  = cursor_mode.CUMODE_CLICKABLE

Is this the option?

EDIT: I set the cursor_mode to CUMODE_CLICKABLE_AND_CAMERA but it has 2 problems:

1. The mouse cursor is not centered with what I look at

2. The option disappears after clicking ALT C and then I am stuck with only the 2 default options

ok thanks, how often does one need to flip switches during actual flight? If it is only so click intensive during startup perhaps its not so annoying then.

never understood why they never supported this, accidental feature. i played for years before eventually getting TIR and hotas. great alternative for people jumping from fc3 to other products in my opinion.

How to look around in the cockpit AND be able to press a switch without having to press ALT C first?

(I am not using track IR)

Have you considered head tracking? I know you're not using TrackIR, and it is expensive, but if you've got a webcam you can always give FaceTrackNoIR or FreeTrack a go (I'm not sure which is more up to date/less buggy).
