Trooper117 Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Comrades... Apart from the obvious flight controls that I have mapped to my joystick and throttle system, I'd be obliged if anyone could furnish me with the 'must have' buttons and commands that have to be mapped for combat flying. I'm learning quite a few keyboard commands now, but there must be a few commands that 'have' to be on the joystick/throttle setup. Many thanks for any :helpsmilie: or ideas!
docfu Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Sure, this is off the top of my head: Mode Selection: Nav Mode Air to Air Air to Ground Targetting Rectical Optical Systems On/Off Night Vision On/Off Laser On/Off SHKVL Targeting(left/right,up/down) SHKVL ZOOM (in/out) SHKVL Target Size(Smaller/Larger) Lock Target Weapon Selection Cannon Selection Fire(Main Trigger) Flares Chaff IRJamming Alarm Silence Cockpit Lights Electrical Systems On/Off Engine Left/Right Start/Stop Gear Parachute Brakes AirBrakes Flaps (maybe Cockpit Open/Close) There are a number of firing/spread buttons I have mapped, but to be honest, I find I don't use them very often and instead I rely heavily on the KH-29T/L and Vikhr's to get the work done so really, SHKVL control/Laser/Weapons Selection/Firing are most important. I still need the keyboard for miscellaneous tasks/radio/camera control.
jib Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 (edited) docfu preaty much hit the nail no the head with his list (apart from Nav Lights, Weapon Launch override and Eject!) But it does I depends on witch joystick you use and how many button combos you can learn to remember. I use a Logitech G940 I use 3 modifiers (2 modifier buttons + both together) to fit all the commands I need to joystick mapping. No modifier pressed= most common tasks (switch weapon flares, etc) First modifier on my hotas = Less common commands (Nav Lights, Night vision, etc) Second modifier on my hotas = All view commands (F10 map, Outside view, Airport view, etc) Both modifiers together = uncommon commands (Dump Fule, Jetison weapons, etc) It seems complicated but I have been using this system for years and I never have to use the keyboard (I even have the Esc key mapped to get out of missions) hope that helps anyone. bernek Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Where can I find some essential flying commands for F15 or SU27 or MiG ? I bought FC3 and I have some airplanes to fly and a modest TMASTER HOTAS X (new) but I cant seem to find out the best mappings ... I cant fly without my essentials and combat is out of the question either ... There is no default setting for TMASTER HOTAS X in DCS so I'm so lost in space now :(
