Mustang Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 ok, i've recently noticed some strange things with Full Shadows lately, it seems that the shadowmap does not cast upon the AGM-65D/K, AIM-9, AIM-7 or AIM-120 on my setup. i'm using ATi Catalyst 6.2 with my Sapphire X800XT 8XAGP, heres a picture of the glitch occuring in the A-10 quick flight mission notice the pylon holding the AIM-9s and the missiles themselves, also the AGM-65D in this screen you can see the AIM-7s and AIM-120 not looking right at all the SU-25Ts weapons look fine though, as do all the other russian missiles/bombs. anyone else seeing this too?
Guest EVIL-SCOTSMAN Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 you got the balls to moan about that. me is pissed off cuz your pic is clearer than what i get :( :D joke, dont be taking it seriously.... I will admit tho, ati cards are that touch sharper than nvidias. EDIT: i be looking at that f15 pic, it looks as tho there is nothing holding them missiles onto the aircraft ? weird
Mustang Posted February 15, 2006 Author Posted February 15, 2006 you got the balls to moan about that. me is pissed off cuz your pic is clearer than what i get :( :D joke, dont be taking it seriously.... I will admit tho, ati cards are that touch sharper than nvidias LOL, try going into graphics.cfg and changing "ScreenshotQuality = 90;" to "ScreenshotQuality = 100;" :p BTW i've compared these pics with 169th_Ice's nVidia 7800GTX 512mb and he *doesn't* have this issue :o
Guest EVIL-SCOTSMAN Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 what issue ? the shadow issue or the sharper quality on ati cards compared to nvidias ? this is quality i get, its sharp, but i used a hell of a lot of AA, and AF, now i think ati cards have a sharper image without as much AA/AF btw i changed the file to 100 instead of 90 ;) i never knew that. cheers dude...
Caretaker Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 Apparently the "missing shadows" problem is an issue with ATI cards indeed. Personally I only noticed it with the F/A-18 model (it lost the self-shadowing at some point, but I don't know when :(), and that mode shares some characteristics with various US weapon models so it seems logical it happens there as well. 169th_Dredd Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 I can also confirm this. Was looking at this with Mustang earlier. I have a ATI X800Pro. All I can think of is that a different shader effect is possibly used on the other weapons that dont have soft shadows cast on them. ---= 169th Panthers -Flt Lt.- =--- http://www.169thpanthers.com.au AMD64 S939 3700 | 2GB Corsair DDR500 | 21" CRT ATI Radeon X800Pro | 2x36GB WD Raptors | SB Audigy TIR3 | TM-868 | X52 | CH Pedals | Creative 5.1 Spkrs
Mustang Posted February 15, 2006 Author Posted February 15, 2006 Ok, i've been to ati.com and filled out another Catalyst Crew Feedback form covering this bug, hope it gets noticed :)
