BBQ Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 If there's a better place for this thread -- please let me know, or just move it. Having spent a few hours creating some benchmarks - thought I would share results with community - I hope it's helpful for anyone who has wondered what kind of effect the various settings of the nVidia control panel have on the simulation. See attached readme for explanation of numbers and test methodology. Included in attached RAR are various FRAPS benchmark files (first four minutes of test mission) - the readme.txt, and two screenshots: one showing my DCS Options screen settings, and another showing my nVidia control panel. Aside from settings mentioned in readme and in benchmark file names -- the rest of the settings remained the same (e.g., Vertical Sync OFF, etc.) From the readme.txt: DCS Settings: see accompanying image Setup: In the Georgian Oil War campaign for the Ka-50, there is a mission where an attempt is made to take Kutaisi -- lots of objects -- tends to bring my system down on its knees. TrackIR disabled -- view centered, I started FRAPS benchmarking tool, started mission, and immediately flew on "en route" mode to waypoint 1 at 211kph at 157m altitude for every benchmark. There is no need to open the files -- all info is in each file name: xx.xxxfps_nvidiaFXAA on or off?_nVidia AA settings@ Xx AA setting E.g. -- the best settings for me seem to be indicated by the 26.675fps_FXAAON_nVidaAA_ENHANCE@16xCSAA file: Average of 26.675 fps, FXAA is ON, nVidia antiAliasing is set to ENHANCE application's settings -- with a value of 16xCSAA. For the DCS options screen -- see screenshot. For nVidia Control Panel settings not modified throughout benchmarking - see screenshot. 1

Bee_Sting Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 People don't seem to understand but DCS World brings the best gpu's to it's knees. It's cpu bound and can play DCS World on a Dirext 9 card.

Yes Bee. This is very true. Our point is to get the best graphics experience with the cards though. Put the settings at their most optimal and enjoy a graphics experience based on our purchase. Almost Any 2Gigabyte card manufactured of late will get you there. But I am attempting to ride in a Bentley instead of a Honda. This was a Boutique Builder iBuypower rig.
