Rapier-VCG- Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Hi all, Putting together a template that has all the published locations and types of the Strategic Air Defense systems and locations for known Sam sites. So far though, I am unable to find a viable map that shows locations and such, and hope someone here is able to point me in the right direction thank

kk0425 Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 I would think that information isn't available for obvious reasons.
lunaticfringe Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 You can't hide a permanent SAM installation from a satellite; thus open source wins the day.
Rapier-VCG- Posted March 3, 2014 Author Posted March 3, 2014 http://geimint.blogspot.com/2008/06/worldwide-sam-site-overview.html It's a start. Thanks for the link to the site Lunaticfringe, checked it out and it would have been the cats buttkiss if the links were working. You happen to know any other sorces, that have an active database available to view?
lunaticfringe Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 It doesn't? http://www.mediafire.com/download/1l02qgqp0bpzilk/SAM+Site+Overview+June+2013.kmz While it's from 2013, one can work from it. And I'm wondering if earlier downloads would work in the Internet Archive.
lunaticfringe Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Run the KMZ file in Google Earth, and there should be a historic option. I forget whether he's got it deliniated by year, but you can get the area circles from prior data up until now.
ENO Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 MBot has already done a significant amount of work on this- maybe this will help. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1956490&postcount=22 "ENO" Type in anger and you will make the greatest post you will ever regret. "Sweetest's" Military Aviation Art
