popmaniac Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Hello everyone and good to be here again after - Jeez - 8 and more years... OK. to get started with an extremely frustrating problem to the degree where either I will just throw my joystick out the window (not a likely option but desireable i tell you!:music_whistling:) or I will just quit FC3 only when I re-started playing it... So, I have not played FC or any other DCS product for a long time, long enough not to notice the DCS module and all the other changes:) On the other hand, I have maintained my X52 up to speed with all sorts of sims without any issue whatsoever until today when I bought and installed FC3 and, well, all sorts of erratic hell is breaking loose... To begin with, simply put, the buttons are just NOT working with assignments. I fly the Mig 29S, assign button XYZ to fire missile and I have to resort to cannon and WWI dogfighting as it never fires. Or, the axis, just do not work up to expectations to the extent where I pull a vertical afterburn 8+ g turn and my plane's reaction is more as if I pull the stick back on a 737 or - OK a bit more versatile- an MD80... What the heck???????? I do not load any other profile and keep the slate clean on my X52, the joystick works 10000% fine on any other simulation that I run so I guess either I have done something wrong with FC3 or I may just begin drafting the email for a refund! With my advance thanks, any suggestions?????????
Exorcet Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 My X52 is working fine. You mentioned firing a missile on the MiG, in FC2 a delay was added. You need to hold the trigger to launch a missile. This was carried to FC3. Russian planes in particular use the same button for guns and missiles while US planes don't, even if there are multiple commands for weapon launch in the options for Russian planes, use the one that makes the cannon fire. You can also try general solutions like deleting your controls folder for the plane in question in the Saved Games > DCS > Config > Input folder. Then try setting controls again or using the DCS repair function. blackbelter Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 For the few weeks that I used my 6-year-old X52 with FC3, it worked flawlessly... Hold the button until the missile is launched. For axis controls, maybe you need to check the curvature settings? Or maybe you had too much oil in the tank and/or other payloads? Or maybe you are moving too fast through air? That I am not sure...
lesnyborsuk Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Or, the axis, just do not work up to expectations to the extent where I pull a vertical afterburn 8+ g turn and my plane's reaction is more as if I pull the stick back on a 737 or - OK a bit more versatile- an MD80... I use older X45 and I have the same reaction. But I think this might be the feature since fly-by-wire won't let you overstress your aircraft when making high g turns. In my understanding - this is why you can't make violent turns with high g load. I remember when sex was safe and flying was dangerous.
Frostie Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 (edited) My X-52 is half dead but still works in DCS as it does in any other sim. The only problem I have with it due to its old age is that I have to calibrate it before loading any sim ie. rotate the stick 360 degrees around the pot or else all hell breaks loose in game. The problem is if I forget to calibrate before loading up. Calibrating after starting the sim and being mid flight creates a horrible loose delayed feel. I combat this by unplugging the Stick from the throttle, Alt tab, loading up the X52 control panel, plugging of the stick back with throttle, calibrating, closing panel, back in game, making quick cuppa, and its back to normal and i'm nose deep in bandits or eating turf. 104th_Maverick Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 (edited) Does the Throttle work? I use only the X52 Throttle and I use a Logitech 3d Pro Joystick with it! 100% without a doubt the BEST joystick you can buy for under 100 bucks! If your having troubles with yours I HIGHLY recommened looking at the Logitech. I have recommended this to a number of people... each time they come back happy with it!!! You can get brand new ones on ebay or a local store! http://gaming.logitech.com/en-gb/product/extreme-3d-pro-joystick Edited March 12, 2014 by [Maverick] [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 104th Phoenix Wing Commander / Total Poser / Elitist / Hero / Chad www.104thPhoenix.com www.facebook.com/104thPhoenix My YouTube Channel

lunaticfringe Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 What are you gripin' about? I'm flying with this connected to a freaking 15-pin to USB converter and gunning brains out. And I am, but only in Wing Commander; tore through WC1/WC2, the Secret Missions/Special Ops, and all that rot with a Kraft Thunderstick back in the day. Saw one pop up on eBay, and figured "what the hell". Overly light throw, thumb switches not registering half the time, minuscule throttle, too short of a trigger, had to go to the hardware store and replace the springs... It was like coming home. Threw on an old GOG save game of WC1, and blew through Kurosawa 2 (if you know Wing Commander, you know what I'm talking about) like it was sitting still. I should install one of the helos just for the BDSM thrill. :D
