I like the idea of the detent, and with the ability to set curves in DCSW I enjoy knowing the limit of dry thrust. However, I sometime see fellow forum goers comment on getting riid of their detent, or preferring a unit without a detent when shopping.

I'm interested in gathering opinions. I use the X-52Pro, and other than the detent being too...soft, i love it! I think i want to make the idle area function to turn the engines off though.

I am not sure I understand. The detent on the X-52 is right in the center of travel, IIRC, which is not useful for anything.

I am unsure of where the detent is for the standard X-52. However, on the Pro model, there are 2 detents. According to the scale on the throttle, they are at the 10% and 75% marks. In FC3 craft that's decent AB and engine on/off areas, respectively..

I've read threads where users may voice complaints at not having a smooth throttle axis, actively tried to remove the detent, or simply don't want a detent in their next purchase. I'm sort of asking a "why do you not like detents", as well as a "But I find it so useful"

Hmmm, I guess it has been too long since I used the X-52 Pro. I must be thinking of another stick. Nevermind.

For me a lot of the time the detent makes precise throttle position annoying to achieve. The low detent on the X52 is terrible for taxi. The high detent is terrible for non AB aircraft and not exact enough for AB on/off. It's not that I'd say detents are useless, but I don't like the X52's.

Awaiting: DCS F-15C

I agree about it not beign an exact detent. I find with throttle tension up and the curve set, I can get 100% rpm in the f-15 RIGHT at the start of the detent. but it's such a soft detent that I easily find my way into AB if I'm off a little.

I'll be honest.. I was hoping the X-55 had nicely done detents. It doesn't seem like it does though. :(
