I'd like to host a mission or (better) small campaign to wet the pallette of my gaming buddies on DCS.

I'd like it to primarily use the SU-25A for a few of reasons. One - its low cost of entry for my friends who don't own any DCS modules, Two- it's an FC3 level aircraft so the learning curve is less steep, and Three - its a nicely modeled example of all things good with DCS (3D Cockpit, nice flight model, realistic experience etc..).

Can anyone suggest a 'newb' but fun multiplayer mission or campaign that would be good to use based on the above?

Thanks for any suggestions.

The 104th and 51 servers online welcome all skill levels including beginners.

If you want to make it a private thing, maybe try making your own. You can use the fast mission planner to set something simple up and then edit it in the mission editor. Avoid SAM's and fighters if you want to make it beginner friendly. Tanks, IFV's, and AAA should pose enough of a threat for beginners.

I haven't look for Su-25T (and yes that is the free one, not the A) missions, but I haven't seen many in the users files.

Awaiting: DCS F-15C

Thanks for the reply and suggestion. I will investigate to the editor and the mission generator.

The guys i play with really value a cooperative, tactical gaming experience. I have never had such an experience with a flight sim - so i am hoping dcs can deliver (or rather the mission can deliver)

Any suggestions on cooperative mission topics, scenarios, objectives or ideas would be welcome!

Lots of ideas and info there.

I think a good starter mission for the Su-25T would be clearing enemy vehicles from a large city (like Krasnodar or Maykop). The city will serve as a large landmark so people don't get lost/confused just trying to find the target area, which can be a problem in the Su-25T. The two cities I mentioned have major airfields as well, which could serve as the specific target.

Before I suggested leaving out SAM's, but disabling them can be tactically engaging, especially if no one knows where they are. Maybe some light SA-9 or SA-13 SAM cover over the target could provide some fun by requiring you to disable them to get to the real goal. The Su-25 is also capable of SEAD so this suits it's abilities. You could have one group doing a CAS mission, while the other does SEAD. For a high challenge you can add SA-18 and SA-15.

All good suggestions. I'd try to put up yer own private server first for your friends. Sometimes the public servers can get pretty nasty with lots of AtA engagements and you'll get owned pretty quickly; thus increasing the likelihood of disappointment.

These are great suggestions, thanks (except for the one directly above!). I think I will start with the editor and look at the stock SU25T missions to see if I can add clients. I like the idea of using a big city as a landmark with tiers of defenses to get through 'cooperatively'. Perhaps with a few waves of Hind's or something for simple AtoA engagement.

Thanks everyone!

I recommend making your own mission.

Place some vehicles on an airfield somewhere near the coast, take some screenshots of the target area and mark them in paint or with a similar tool.

Make sure your friends can see you "intel pics" and divide the targets among your flight.

Make a simple route along the coast towards your target, then you can fly this route at low altitude in a simple trail formation.

Explain how to make a pop up attack and have your friends follow you as you lead the way.

Don't forget to brief the egress, it can be as easy as "turn left!"

This way I think that everyone will feel that they are a part of a team, and along with the satisfaction of actually completing a pre briefed task might this be enough to give that nice "coop feeling".
