tonyswash Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 I have just bought Flaming Cliffs 3 and only play the A10A. I am setting up my control system and I noticed the commands for turning EAC off and on. What does this do? I tried toggling it whilst flying and could see no discernible difference. Also the trim controls seem to do nothing much.
Home Fries Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 (edited) EAC stands for "Enhanced Attitude Control", and it is necessary to enable the autopilot as well as keep your plane out of trouble at high AoA maneuvers. If you want to see what it does for you, try the A-10A instant action mission, disable EAC, and pull a hard turn after you make your first pass. You'll notice that you can get more AoA in a turn, but the plane wants to snap roll after a hard pull and you'll need to apply opposite rudder and then try not to overcompensate and create Pilot Induced Oscillation (PIO). With EAC on, you may not get as much AoA, but the plane will also be much more "user friendly" at the edge of controlled flight. EDIT: the EAC switch is located just aft of the throttle quadrant; if the switch is forward, EAC is enabled. tonyswash Posted March 23, 2014 Author Posted March 23, 2014 Is the EAC on by default or do I have to turn it one at the start of the mission?
Home Fries Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 With a cold start you have to turn it on. Otherwise it should be on by default. Just check the switch aft of the throttle to be sure. -Home Fries My DCS Files and Skins My DCS TARGET Profile for Cougar or Warthog and MFDs F-14B LANTIRN Guide
