Cobra360 Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 Did some tests, turns out they either don't use their radar or the RWR is not modeled to pick it up . But on another note you can add in the R-77 when it goes active. It comes up as a M inside a diamond enclosed in a circle. NATO name AA-12 Adder.
Brit_Radar_Dude Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 But on another note you can add in the R-77 when it goes active. It comes up as a M inside a diamond enclosed in a circle. Any active missile (R-77, AIM-120 , AIM-54) should show up like this. Try it out, put yourself in an Israeli F-15 against USA and Russia (F-14 with AIM-54, F-18 with AIM-120, MiG-29 with R-77). I tried but failed to get MiG-31 with R-33 to give me an M on the TEWS, maybe it does but I just couldn't capture it. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Sorry Death, you lose! It was Professor Plum....
Pilotasso Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 The R-33 is actualy passive so you wont get a spike for it, just the launcher aircraft. NATO has wrongly assimed the AA-9 AMOS to be the twin brother to the Phoenix. Reason wich you might have done that mistake as well. It also turns out the Mig-31 was not as weak as the other russian fighters with its radar so the fact the R-33 was SARH was not a big problem as it may have seemed at first glance. .
Guest IguanaKing Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Thanks for the information guys. I guess I can't do any testing tonight anyway...gotta make another 12 pounds of iguana food, it takes a while.
