Which Video card should I get?

I am considering getting this card ,GIGABYTE GV-N770OC-4GD GeForce GTX 770 4GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready WindForce 3X 450W Video Card

 

to replace my

GF GTX 560 Ti 2gb card.

What card would be best for future DCS gaming?

I have the Asus 770 2GB card, if you are not playing in 4k resolution there is no advantage of getting the 4GB card. Save the money and go with the 2GB card. It does great at 1920x1080

i'll buy gigabyte gtx 770 2gb oc windforce edition tomorrow and many people told the same with yours.

my screen resolution is 1680x1050 and 770 2gb card afford more than it.

Their is a big advantage to 4gb mem at 1080p in this game. If you run texture mods you will hit over 3gb used in 1080p. I run two oc 770 4gb. Well worth it. More memory the better

I run the sim at stock with everything maxxed and it barely scratches 1GB. I guess if you plan on modding the crap out of the sim then go for it, but tests have shown not many games touch 2GB unless you are running 4k resolutions.

 

Even Farcry 3 running at max details doesnt need 4GB and actually performs better on 2GB. This sim that we play is CPU bound more than anything and I doubt it would need it. As you see in the link the 4GB card does not shine until running resolutions above 2560x1600.

EDIT: Just did some testing and found that it does use 1.4GB of memory yet with everything maxxed out I never stuttered or had any issues. Ran perfect

I'll go with the 2gb card since I run it at 1920x1080 and I have not used any scenery mods since I bought the Black Shark when it was first released.:thumbup:

Honestly, you don't need a 4gb card right now.. but why wouldn't you future proof yourself? I mean, 4k resolution is on the way, right now, and the Consumer Rift is going to be higher than 1080p.

 

You probably already ordered the card but, my 2 cents is get a card that will last you at least a few years, higher resolution is coming.

Good point. I myself like to stay in the "mid range" area when it comes to video cards / TVs.

 

I'm actually waiting until 4k becomes a little more common before I upgrade my video card.
