"Unusual" Aircrafts?

Fighter planes, attack planes, bombers ... boring? What about some less common, more unusual aircrafts? What aircrafts can you think of? Aircrafts that were actually used in the role they were meant for, so I am not speaking about some experimental aircrafts.

 

I am interested in stuff the common layman or even just the "typical" flight simmer probably would not think about in the first place. Especially what special equipment was used, etc. The U-2 comes spontaneous to my mind ... although recon or spy aircraft are not really THAT uncommon. Or as VEAO was talking about an multi-crew ASM tanker for the Tiffy, including boom operator ... interesting! Also AWACS - how does it all work? (although there is already plenty of info available at the net)

 

What else? What interesting other stuff is out there ... and would we have a (remote) chance to see them in DCS?
