hello everyone i have a question i hope someone can answer i an useing a dell xps 600 with a 3.20 cpu 2 gigs memory and 2 geforce 6800,s in sli.

the question is i get better frame rates useing just one card than useing sli mode? surely it should be the other way around i have read that lock on is cpu intensive but i thought still useing 2 vid cards better than one.

i am flying lock-on 1.02 not flaming cliffs.

thanks

try doin a search for SLI in these forums. i have personally tried many times and had no luck at all, same results as you. Some people have got it working, but i really don't know. Just one of those things i guess.

cheers

na, sli isnt that great for lockon, it can be decent in some views, i found mostly external and mostly when viewing other aircraft.

The bottom line is that it just isnt great with lockon :(

ok, I been testin some more, and I found 1 great sli mode for lockon.

Its sli AA.

Basically, that mode uses 1 card to render the game and also some AA, and the other card is used to add more AA.

So in the end, you have a great looking game, with the fps of a single card.

I got mine set at SLI 16xAA and 16xAF and the game runs fast enough and the other card is touching up the visuals at no fps lose, as it isnt working in either AFR or SFR mode's.

Well anyway I found it to be a good setting to have it at, as there is absolutely no fps lose to me, I cant say about others, but i am leaving lockon on this setting.

in the nvidia control panel, where you select single gpu or mutli gpu rendering, you first need to add coolbits reg hack to be able to see it.
