I did a factory restore on my computer and tried to reinstall BS2 upgrade from BS1 and is told activations are exceeded, I had not done any reinstalls for at least a year did not expect to not be able to reinstall BS2, has anyone had a activation exceeded issues and know how to get activations added to their account?

If you answer these questions I can help you better.

  • Are you installing BS2 Standalone or into DCS World? (Don't install the standalone any more, DCS World is free and complete with updates).
  • Do you have the boxed, download or steam version of both Black Shark 1 and 2?
  • Do you have an activated install of DCS Black Shark 1 on your computer?

What I would suggest is first de activating the product (BS2) then re downloading the BS2 upgrade from the DCS site and when you install, select the International upgrade or Russian upgrade key.

Before you run DCS World, make sure the original Black Shark 1 is activated (this should not be installed in the DCSW folder it should have its own separate folder.

Run DCS World, run a mission and activate the product.

To answer your questions, I have DCS world installed, BS1 is a boxed installed version and it installed just fine but says it still needs to be activated, BS2 is a download upgrade,......I have no stream version, BS1 is installed on the computer and is updated to DCS module version, DCS world allows me limited access to run the BS sim and everything looks normal, only thing is that it will no allow me into the cockpit, ( can only fly from outside view ) you see, until BS1 is activated I can only fly the sim in somewhat like an arcade mode, out side the cockpit......I have and have entered the serial number for BS1 but it keeps saying activations exceeded, and it will not accept the serial number for BS2 ( which I have ) until BS1 is activated, then it will allow me full access to the sim.

If you have no more activations left for BS1, then you need to open a support ticket and request a new key.

I just submitted a ticket, I was not even aware there was a ticket system available to submit, it mentions nothing of this on the customer service and activations page, does anyone know how long on average it takes for them to get back with you? are they pretty good and prompt at clearing up issues?....where do they send their responses when getting back with you?

Response time can be quite quick but it does vary so I can't speculate on what you can expect. Though since this is a simple issue, the response should be relatively quick. Responses should go to the ticket system itself (you can check your ticket for followups) and the email address that you logged in with. Do NOT add comments (bump) to your ticket. Due to the way the system works, if you bump the ticket it will move you back in the queue.

I wish a lot more people knew this so it would stop people complaining that they waited weeks for a response when they've probably been bumping the whole time. :music_whistling:
