Wizard1393 Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Hi all, Since I started using TrackIR5 a few months back (and love it btw) there is only one feature I dearly want regarding Zooming (not lateral head movement). The way I have it configured now is that I have a 2-way fingertip axis on my throttle that I use to Zoom in and out. It would be so awesome if you could somehow configure the TrackIR to go into Precision mode or in some other way scale back sensitivity when Zooming in. I know I can set up a button to activate Precision Mode in the TIR software but that's not really what I want. I'd very much like a gradual scaleback on sensitivity that follows the current FOV / ZOOM. Any one knows if this is somehow possible, either in game or in the TIR software somehow using advanced editing of config files or any such thing. Greatful for any feedback on this. //Chris GPU: PALIT NVIDIA RTX 3080 10GB | CPU: Intel Core i7-9700K @ 4,9GHz | RAM: 64GB DDR4 3000MHz VR: HP Reverb G2 | HOTAS: TM Warthog Throttle and Stick OS: Windows 10 22H2
cichlidfan Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 If I understand you correctly, you want TIR behavior to alter dependent on the position of the zoom axis in the sim. I can't even imagine a way to do that, since the two programs really don't know anything about what the other is doing. It would suffice if TIR Software could bind an axis as a "hotkey". My first idea was just that, to investigate whether you could bind the Precision Mode Hotkey in TIR, to an Axis on the joystick. But I found out that you can't. You can only bind regular "buttons". Even if binding an axis was possible, I'd not get the Precision Mode (sensitivity) of the TIR to scale with the amount of zoom (axis %). I'd only get Precision Mode activated. But that might do. I'm going to investigate if i can have GlovePie listen for axis movement and the emulate a keyboard keystroke to activate Precision Mode.... thinkr Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 (edited) That's already a feature of Track IR 5.1 software just goto HOTKEYS and map a joystick button to Precision from the pull down bar. I have mine binded with my x52 extra paddle switches on the front as far as axis I don't think so. You might be better off using snapviews from the config files in DCS to get a zoom on the hood fixed for targeting. PeterP talked a lot about this. And it works well. Basically you bind a button on your joystick to jump to a fixed snap view of the hood zoomed in so you can target without Trackir bouncing around. I'll find you the link and post it. Yeah I noticed that you can't bind it to an Axis. However I managed to get it working quite ok with a GlovePie script last night. Managed to write the script so that when I use the zoom axis, when it passes a 40% threshold on the axis, an F7 keypress is emulated, activating Precision mode. When it goes back under 40% it sens another F7 press to toggle it off. So far so good, BUT I noticed weird things happening with my mouse when GlovePie was running the script. Clicks wasn't registered and there was sometimes a second or two of delay between the click and when it actually registered...Gonna have to look into it more on why that happens. Great work. I tried to add reputation, but the system said I can't????? It works on other posts... not sure what's up with that.
