Hello I get a crash with DCS world since after the 1.2.8 Updates, and it happens all the time with all aircraft and helicopters, with the beta and without. I will be in the mission editor and then I will fly a mission that I just created and in about 5-20 minutes the sim will lock up. When I alt tab to close it, it always says that "DCS World Has Stopped Working" that I guess is why it locks up, then it goes back into the mission editor after it tells me that there was an error bringing up the Briefing Screen. I have tried both the steam and regular versions of DCS World and Modules. I am not sure what Info, you need... Please Let me know, I hope it can be fixed, I love this sim so much!

go into user / saved games / dcs / logs and grab your dcs.log and dcs.log.old. Either copy and paste their contents in here or zip them up and attach them here.

Have you already tried to do a DCS Repair? If that does not help, search these forums for how to update the C++ Runtime Libraries and try that.

It seems to work now after verifying the steam files, but I would still like to know what it was that made it crash, from the log and crash dump files, but I don't know how to view them?

I use some mods in DCS world, graphics mods, sound mods, and texture mods, and I would like to know what one it was, because I am hoping it is not my sound mods such as Diveplanes sound files... That is why I would like to know if possible, thanks!

I am suspecting the C++ Runtime Libraries were to blame, not necessarily any of your mods. Perhaps there is a remote corelation between it, but I really can't say.

Were you using mods that change the graphics somehow? Like the way clouds are rendered or something like that? There is probably a lot of math involved and perhaps that could have had an impact if those indirectly were using functions of the C++ Runtime Library that normally would not be used (that much or to some extend).

How I came to my suspicion? The .DMP files contain data that show where exactly the crash occured, i.e. which .DLL files were loaded and which functions were called in those DLLs. You need the software debugger of Visual Studio to analyze those DMP files. I am in no way proficient in doing that, but at least it showed to me that the crash occured in "msvcr110.dll" which is part of the C++ Runtime Libraries ("MicroSoft Visual C++ Runtime").

It might even be far fetched, but that was the best I could come up with. :o)

Okay, I use a terrain mod, I forget what the name of it is, and I use one that disables the smoke on the smokestacks also.

SweetFX sound familiar? Love that one.
