serend Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 I keep getting periodic screen blackouts and freezes and haven't a clue as to how to sort out a fix. New computer: 16gig RAM, Intel i7 cpu, Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 GPU. Nothing overclocked. Seems like this ought to be enough to run A-10 sim without any problems, but I get these hiccups and wonder if anyone can offer a suggestion on tracking down the problem. Thanks in advance. Serend

serend Posted May 28, 2014 Author Posted May 28, 2014 Windows 7 home premium 64 bit. Not sure name of drivers, but OS says the drivers are current.
Avernus Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Goto the Nvidia website and try the official driver set. Win7 tends to load up it's own MS provided software for the display, Enough for basic functionality, not recommended for dedicated gaming :)
serend Posted May 29, 2014 Author Posted May 29, 2014 Thanks very much, Avernus. I'm a newcomer to this business and I appreciate your help. Serend
winchesterdelta1 Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 I had something similar yesterday. I was shot down and right after my 2 screens just shut down and went into standby. The game was still running. I had to power down the screens twice for it to come back up. Never had that in any game before since the beginning of my gaming ""career"". Go in close, and when you think you are too close, go in closer.
Winfield_Gold Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Sounds to me like the earth is moving on it's axis faster than before and it is causing the monitor excessive g forces. This seems to be leading to the blackouts your monitor is experiencing. Have you tried putting the monitor inside a G-suit and seeing if the problem still exists? I have had to put my whole computer tower, monitor, keyboard and mouse inside a g suit to stop this exact same issue.
Fenderalac Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Yup my monitor shuts down for like 10 seconds and that its back on again, also sometimes it freezes completely and i have to restart. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I./JG2 Oberleutnant Flieger
_Dredd Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 (edited) Try DDU Utility to remove all nvidia binaries, then indtall 314.22 or try 332.21 after a reboot. Nvidia forums are full of these problems since above. strangely enough I dint see this happening until 335 drivers and coincidently 1.2.8. I first thought it was 1.2.8, then perhaps fog related with the specific card and drivers, then thought it was an EDID and driver issue, even check temps and clocks. Whatever it is, either Nvidia don't know, or aren't saying.. A there doesn't appear to be any confirmation of what is causing it in their driver releases. Damn annoying though.. Strange thing however is I only se it in MP. so there's a relationship somewhere at a guess? CoNa Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 winchesterdelta: I have the same issue on an AMD 7970. A simple tap on any key on the keyboard wakes the monitors again. Seems the PC does not like just hotas commands, think the pc is not used and puts the monitors on standby. Have not had that with any other game, but setting the monitors to never shut down would be a quick fix.
