Maulkin Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Hey guys, A buddy and I are going throught the instant action missions and he mentioned to me today that when he tried this mission the 9A4172 Vikhr would suddenly vear off into the ground despite having the target clearly painted. I tried the mission out myself and sure enough the first Vikhr I fire flies true for a little while then suddenly vears off into the ground well short of the target that is clearly painted. I try the rest of my payload and I would estimate about 50% of the missles I fired would fly halfway there then suddenly decide life has no meaning, take a dramatic turn off to the right and slam into the nearest patch of ground it can find. I have confirmed that I have the optical sensor locked onto the tank, and the laser is painting it and the timer is counting down. I am flying straight and level. Anyone else ever encounter this? --Maulkin Windows 10 64-bit - AMD Ryzen 9 5900X @ 3.7 GHz - 32 GB DDR4 3600MHz RAM - EVGA FTW3 RTX 3080 - Asus Crosshair VIII Hero motherboard - Samsung EVO Pro 1 TB SSD - TrackIR 4 Pro - Thrustmaster Warthog - Saitek rudder pedals - Lilliput UM-80/C with TM Cougars
71st_Mastiff Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 (edited) which mission? its working for me, if your target goes out of circle you lose it or if you fire too close also. Maulkin Posted June 4, 2014 Author Posted June 4, 2014 It is the last mission in the 'Instant Action' for the Su-25T. I believe you only need it in the circle to get launch authorization but once fired you simply need to keep it lased. I am going to try firing the missile in pairs to see if there is a case where both missiles fly off in the same direction, implying a targeting issue, or where one flys off and the other stays on target, implying it might be a setting in the mission for missile accuracy. --Maulkin Windows 10 64-bit - AMD Ryzen 9 5900X @ 3.7 GHz - 32 GB DDR4 3600MHz RAM - EVGA FTW3 RTX 3080 - Asus Crosshair VIII Hero motherboard - Samsung EVO Pro 1 TB SSD - TrackIR 4 Pro - Thrustmaster Warthog - Saitek rudder pedals - Lilliput UM-80/C with TM Cougars
Fishbreath Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 It might also be wind: a crosswind can push the Vikhr out of the guidance cone. Try attacking from all four directions to see if that's it. ratkandy Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 I believe you have to keep the target in the cone for the Vikhr's whole flight, or most of it. I've seen very low Vikhr accuracy like you describe in the campaign missions, and I've seen my accuracy go way up when I hit the brakes and spent more time on target. Also, I think the ability to fire 2 Vikhrs was removed in recent versions. If I'm wrong, can someone tell me exactly how?
Maulkin Posted June 4, 2014 Author Posted June 4, 2014 I opened the mission using the editor and found the following weather settings: at 10m: 5m/s @ 55 degrees at 2000m: 9m/s @ 90 degrees at 8000m: 9m/s @ 73 degrees Turbulence = 0 Nothing there that I feel would account for this behavior. I will try out the mission again and post a track. @ratkandy: It has been a long time since I have flown the Su-25T so it is possible this has been changed. I just remember doing it once. Maybe I am thinking of the Ka-50...... --Maulkin Windows 10 64-bit - AMD Ryzen 9 5900X @ 3.7 GHz - 32 GB DDR4 3600MHz RAM - EVGA FTW3 RTX 3080 - Asus Crosshair VIII Hero motherboard - Samsung EVO Pro 1 TB SSD - TrackIR 4 Pro - Thrustmaster Warthog - Saitek rudder pedals - Lilliput UM-80/C with TM Cougars
naizarak Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 i've also noticed vikhrs falling short of clearly marked targets lately. personally don't mind as i think the missiles are too accurate and consistent anyways I believe you have to keep the target in the cone for the Vikhr's whole flight, or most of it. I've seen very low Vikhr accuracy like you describe in the campaign missions, and I've seen my accuracy go way up when I hit the brakes and spent more time on target. Also, I think the ability to fire 2 Vikhrs was removed in recent versions. If I'm wrong, can someone tell me exactly how? ripple quantity i think. for me it's lctrl+v. afaik there's no visual indicator for ripple quantity, however the vikhr targetting circle will be center-aligned for pairs and offset to the left or right for single missiles
Bola. Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 I have the same experience, sometimes vikhrs just fall off their targets. I think it's something accuracy related.
Aeger Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 I just posted the same issue in another thread: Vikhr missiles stray off target Haven't figured it out yet... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Aeger Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Attached a track as an example. After my first failure, I tried taking over control of my replay and tried different attack methods without success (reducing air speed, pointing the nose upward, etc.). Feels like something is broken... but maybe I'm just something?Vikhr Failure.trk [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
