SDsc0rch Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 "front page headline" heard here: http://goo.gl/3QMlQZ then again at time 16:00 you hear it repeatedly - and then again ~16:50 and also IVO ~18:00 i don't remember ever coming across that when i was in -- can anybody fill me in?? if i were to guess.. i would say whatever the subject is, its really important - in which case i don't know why they don't just preface it with "emergency traffic" or go out on guard - ?? "front page headline" SOUNDS like its big news.. also, their tone of voice isn't elevated - there are of other clips in that audio track where you can tell ppl are getting excited - such as when someone is requesting bogey dope (or declare?) and he's not getting an answer also, it seems like perhaps it could mean someone is actually checking in?? someone calls up stating "front page headline" and the AIC just rogers out anyway, yeah - anyone know what it "really" means?? i7-4790K | Asus Sabertooth Z97 MkI | 16Gb DDR3 | EVGA GTX 980 | TM Warthog | MFG Crosswind | Panasonic TC-58AX800U [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

SDsc0rch Posted June 12, 2014 Author Posted June 12, 2014 thx so much! problem is.. that doc doesn't have this particular term in it - i searched i should have said, i already have a few versions of the multi-service brevity code docs - and i've googled the term ----- coming up empty.. i7-4790K | Asus Sabertooth Z97 MkI | 16Gb DDR3 | EVGA GTX 980 | TM Warthog | MFG Crosswind | Panasonic TC-58AX800U [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Nightmare515 Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Hmmm It may not be an official brevity term but something that particular unit uses for a certain situations. I know that we have used different code words that we just sort of made up during the briefing. Everything from Star Wars movie quotes to sports terms. Many of the brevity terms are universal between the services in regards to aviation. I've never heard "front page news" before in Army aviation maybe its an Air Force thing or something they just made up that day to say when they have eyes on their objective or something.
SDsc0rch Posted June 14, 2014 Author Posted June 14, 2014 yeah.. could be from context it sounds like they're just checking in for the first time there are other phrases they're using that I'm unfamiliar with also - but I've been out for a while so...;) i7-4790K | Asus Sabertooth Z97 MkI | 16Gb DDR3 | EVGA GTX 980 | TM Warthog | MFG Crosswind | Panasonic TC-58AX800U [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
aaron886 Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 "Front page headlines" sounds like an operation-specific code word. Every NATO operation is going to have some of its own code words, I imagine.
