Hello all. I viewed some movies of LockOn recently on youtube.com and it inspired me to reinstall the game. I come back to the community to find that it has GROWN tremendously. I quit playing lock on back in 2004 and never really went back to it. Now i feel sorry for not doing so! so many changes are kind of confusing.. so heres the questions i ask.

What do i need to get to update my game? I know what patches to get and to get flaming cliffs.... But are there any mods that people use? It seem so vast and confusin as to what is good to get! Is there any updated sound packs? i notice in these movies that the sound has changed.. was that added in or was it just sounds taken from real life?

Also how is the multiplayer community? when i played it was a small but diehard community. About 20 players i would see at any given time. Has that number increased and what program is used to browse and connect to servers?

I believe that is the questions i have.. if anyone could help me i would greatly appreciate it.. thank you :)

The latest patch for Basic game is 1.02, wich you must have gotten already.

Flamming cliffs is a payware addon (ver 1.1) costing 15$ web version and 35$ (aim at about 50$ adding the mail taxes) for CD version. You can find the info in the mainpage, once intsalled be sure to use the activation key registry utility to preserve all 15 activations of the web version if you ever reinstall it later on. I advise you to get CD instead wich is only CD check once a week. Its more expensive but saves you the hassle.

Latest patch for flamming cliffs is 1.12a.

After you get flamming cliffs just reintall the basic game, then install the FC addon and then 1.12a patch.

For MOD's you may want to check BRitgliderpilot's Russian navy MOD adding the Mig-29K (with some smart weapons with it) and other goodies. Install it by using MODMAN utility you can find on any LOMAC fan site.

Thats pretty much it.

ROE Wedge - yeah Youtube is a nice site, I think my fave movie on that site is called Boeing 747 Extreme Landing wild crosswind landing at Kai Tak(never an easy approach at the best of times).

But far more movies on sites like

http://www.jpmarchetti.com

http://www.virtual-jabog32.de/?lang=en

Sound packs? - try sound packs by either Archer or zzzspace - you will find them on all the usual sites. Sometimes lockon movies will use these packs or real life recordings, but moviemakers will also edit the sound track so treat movie sound with a pinch of salt.

Flaming Cliffs? Depends on where in the world you are. In the US, naturalpoint and gogamer have the CD for about $15, in Europe try http://www.simw.com it is 20Euro.

Mods/tweaks/skins? - Plenty of stuff out there to help with FPS, many dozens of new skins since you last flew, several terrain Mods eg Western Runways, ditto Community authored missions and campaigns.

Holy Crap!

That jumbo jet was angled a good 45 degrees to the runway just before touchdown.

And calling it a "touchdown" is kind.

Holy Crap!

Hi ROE Wedge,

don't miss those nifty TekaTeka's tweaks and mods (you'll find the links with thumbnails in his signature). They're great!
