pauldy Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 I just noticed that when the Eagle flies with certain amount of sidewind... if left uncorrected, the plane will keep banking towards the wind until it rolls over.. So the F-15's Flight Control System has no correcting function for these conditions whatsoever and that we have to keep on correcting throughout the flight? Trimming towards the opposite bank doesn't seem to work since it will just make the plane bank into that direction as well ^^; I tend to fly with no wind because of this ^^ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Trimming towards the opposite bank doesn't seem to work since it will just make the plane bank into that direction as well ^^; I tend to fly with no wind because of this ^^ There is something seriously wrong with the sim if wind (other than turbulence or shear) affects the flight characteristics in any way. Flying straight and level with a constant wind over the ground is no different for an aircraft than flying straight and level with no wind over the ground, the only difference would be the track and speed with respect to the ground. All I can think is that if you treat the VVI like the ball in a turn and bank indicator, and trim the rudder to center it, you will definitely bank the plane away from the relative crosswind. The VVI does in fact show your velocity with respect to the ground, and should never be centered horizontally with rudder trim. It is not the same as the ball, centering it with a crosswind actually causes the plane to slip or skid through the air. Unless of course, the sim really is borked in this fashion.

I agree I think there's something off here... I don't understand how the aircraft want's to roll into the wind when flying in a cross wind..
Svend_Dellepude Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 CAS is over correcting for crosswind. AFAIK they are working on it. There are other threads mentioning that. Dig around.. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Win10 64, Asus Maximus VIII Formula, i5 6600K, Geforce 980 GTX Ti, 32 GB Ram, Samsung EVO SSD.
104th_Maverick Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 CAS is still WIP, problems like this should be expected until it is finished! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 104th Phoenix Wing Commander / Total Poser / Elitist / Hero / Chad www.104thPhoenix.com www.facebook.com/104thPhoenix My YouTube Channel
pauldy Posted June 26, 2014 Author Posted June 26, 2014 Ok, ok, I get it.. I just wanted to verify if it's a bug or so.. Sorry if it seemed like a dumb question.. I'll try to keep questions to myself next time.. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
