dooom Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 I am wanting to edit the casualty counter script and so I am introducing relevant ground units... I see the script uses: -- counting of Ground casualties: if 'M-2 Bradley' == _unit_properties.typeName or 'BMD-1' == _unit_properties.typeName or 'BMP-1' == _unit_properties.typeName or 'BMP-2' == _unit_properties.typeName or 'BMP-3' == _unit_properties.typeName or 'LAV-25' == _unit_properties.typeName or 'Marder' == _unit_properties.typeName My question is: How do i know what name of the unit to put in the list? in the ME, the "marder' is listed as "IFV Marder" so it is apparant the "IFV" was dropped by the author. I'd like to add units such as the AAA Vulcan M163 and APC M1025 HMMWV .... but what label do i use to describe them in the script? chromium Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 Can't remember where I found it, but those should be some: AAV7 M1043 HMMWV Armament M1126 Stryker ICV M-113 M1045 HMMWV TOW LAV-25 M-2 Bradley M-1 Abrams 2B11 mortar MLRS M-109 ZU-23 Emplacement Closed ZU-23 Emplacement Ural-375 ZU-23 Dog Ear radar 1L13 EWR 55G6 EWR S-300PS 54K6 cp S-300PS 5P85C ln S-300PS 5P85D ln S-300PS 40B6MD sr S-300PS 64H6E sr S-300PS 40B6M tr SA-11 Buk CC 9S470M1 SA-11 Buk LN 9A310M1 SA-11 Buk SR 9S18M1 Strela-10M3 Tor 9A331 SA-18 Igla-S manpad SA-18 Igla-S comm 2S6 Tunguska 5p73 s-125 ln p-19 s-125 sr snr s-125 tr Kub 2P25 ln Kub 1S91 str Osa 9A33 ln Strela-1 9P31 ZSU-23-4 Shilka BTR-80 MTLB BRDM-2 BTR_D Boman BMD-1 BMP-1 BMP-2 BMP-3 T-55 T-72B T-80UD T-90 2B11 mortar Smerch Grad-URAL SAU Gvozdika SAU Msta SAU Akatsia SAU 2-C9 GAZ-3307 GAZ-3308 IKARUS Bus KAMAZ Truck LAZ Bus MAZ-6303 Ural-4320-31 Ural-4320T VAZ Car ZIL-131 KUNG ZIL-4331 Trolley bus ]]-- Author of DSMC, mod to enable scenario persistency and save updated miz file Stable version & site: https://dsmcfordcs.wordpress.com/ Openbeta: https://github.com/Chromium18/DSMC The thing is, helicopters are different from planes. An airplane by it's nature wants to fly, and if not interfered with too strongly by unusual events or by a deliberately incompetent pilot, it will fly. A helicopter does not want to fly. It is maintained in the air by a variety of forces in opposition to each other, and if there is any disturbance in this delicate balance the helicopter stops flying; immediately and disastrously.
ajax Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 The best place to find the unit type names is in the {DCS}\scripts\database\db_countries.lua file -- it will be the most up-to-date list available. The units are differentiated by country so they will be scattered throughout the file.
dooom Posted June 28, 2014 Author Posted June 28, 2014 blah... tedious to say the least... hell maybe I'll take the time to build it once and see what happens. mwd2 Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 you can find the name in the files: ..\DCS World\Script/Database\.. example: \vehicles\unarmed\GAZ-66.lua line 21: GT.Name = "GAZ-66"; 1 Playing: DCS World Intel i7-13700KF, 64GB DDR5 @5600MHz, RTX 4080 ZOTAC Trinity, WIN 11 64Bit Prof. Squadron "Serious Uglies" / Discord-Server: https://discord.gg/2WccwBh Ghost0815
ajax Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 (edited) ...so it is apparant the "IFV" was dropped by the author. No, actually DCS uses different names, one set for the mission editor and another set for the mission. The names are the same for 95%? of the units (just a guess). Another notable exception is the Mi-8 -- for the ME it is Mi-8MTV2 but in the mission it is Mi-8MT. Go figure.:dunno: Edit: Wow! It turns out only about 50% of the names are the same. ajax Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 You're welcome. It was fairly simple to obtain -- I used mist.dump_tbl() to get the me_db table from within the ME. In it there is a table named nameByDisplayName which essentially the list I uploaded (after some minor text editing to clean it up).
