Pandacat Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 In Options, under control tab, I select all commands and try to map some of the controls to my hotas buttons. The interesting thing is some of the buttons on my hotas don't get recognized while others do. For instance, my trigger is listed as button 1 under the dropdown list. But when I map it to gun fire, it doesn't work. However, the pickle button which is listed as button 2, works. So out of all 30+ buttons on my x52pro, half of them are responsive, while the other half aren't, but they are all listed in the dropdown list. I tested all buttons under saitek's control panel as well as other sims, all of them work. Just wonder if there are anything I missed to put in.
ShuRugal Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 try clearing (or unloading) your x52 profile? Any button that has an assignment in SST won't be visible when pressed in the sim.
Art-J Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Might be a "capt. obvious" type of a question, but I'll give it a try anyway - are you sure you assigned throttle buttons in throttle command list and joystick buttons in joystick list? That was what I stumbled upon when I tried to assign my HOTAS setup in this sim for the first time and I didn't realize that there are two "joy button 1s", two "joy button 2s" etc. (each controller has its buttons numbered independently, unlike in windows control panel). i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
Pandacat Posted June 30, 2014 Author Posted June 30, 2014 there are two "joy button 1s", two "joy button 2s" etc. (each controller has its buttons numbered independently, unlike in windows control panel). Nice tips. I'll go back double check on that later today. However, my issue is a bit more strange than what you said. For example, I pull down "all commands", then find "gun fire" line. I then double click on the corresponding cell in x52pro joystick column. It opens up in a new window with key you want to assign and modify keys you want to put in. If I now press my trigger button on my joystick, nothing happens. The blank doesn't get filled in. However, if I instead press the pickle button, the blank immediately gets filled by "joybtn2". If I manually click on the dropdown list, I can see 30+ buttons plus all the directions for POV hat 1. So I feel that my buttons are getting detected by the program, but somehow, something rendered them irresponsive.
Art-J Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 The first part of Your description sounds like a proper way of assigning buttons. The blank cell should fill when You press the trigger indeed. The only time it didn't happen while I, novice DCS player, was assigning my gear for the first time was caused, as mentioned previously, by stupid me, clicking desperately joystick buttons while in throttle assignments column and vice versa :D. Took me quite a few minutes before I noticed mistake. Probably because throttle assignments column was first from the left while joystick one was second (I expected them to be the other way around) and I was not familiar with DCS user interface. You seem to be sure You're clicking the right cells in the right columns, so I don't know what the issue is. Maybe, as ShuRugal suggested it's something profiler-related? I'm using Thrustmaster gear without any profilers, perhaps experienced Saitek users will give You better advice. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.

I was lazy and used a downloaded profile from somebody else. However it is cause buttons not working. I recommend for the new players to set up for the first time to not use any profile first. Set up all the buttons first and then build a profile.
