Jay1980 Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 (edited) When I'm looking at my Su-33 from the rear or getting close to the rear (external view) I have a serious drop in FPS (3 at the worst, normally 4fps), even if the rest of the game is running perfectly smooth. Now I run the game with pretty much every graphics option maxed out at a 1600x900 resolution, but even if I put EVERYTHING down to the absolute minimum, I still end up with 4fps when I get to close to the rear of the plane. Heat blur on or off doesn't seem to make any change (worse or better) whatsoever. I've been checking the issue a bit with the other aircraft: MiG-29 FPS drops to 6 Su-27 FPS drops to 4 Su-33 FPS drops to 3 F-15C FPS drops to 4 Su-25T no noticeable FPS drop at all Has anyone else run into this issue, or figured out a way to solve it? Serp Supreme Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 That's due to the new smoke effect from the engines bro. It seriously kills FPS to have the camera in the smoke trail. Jay1980 Posted July 14, 2014 Author Posted July 14, 2014 Thx! Is there any way to reduce the smoke trail and restore some fps?

Jay1980 Posted July 14, 2014 Author Posted July 14, 2014 Glad to hear I'm not the only one having this problem and that there'll be a solution some time sooner or later. I'm still searching for ways to solve this problem untill then, so if anyone has any suggestions please let me know!

Does this happen in all conditions or just after engine startup with idel throttle? To me, the latter one. Tvol Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 If there's a way to turn-down particle effects, you could reduce those and probably recover some (or a lot) of frames.
Jay1980 Posted July 14, 2014 Author Posted July 14, 2014 @Uboats: when the engine is turned on it happens under all conditions. @Tvol: unfortunately I haven't found that option yet : ) I've been checking the Bazar\Effects folders to see if I can find a setting that I can perhaps tweak, but no luck yet!
Jay1980 Posted July 19, 2014 Author Posted July 19, 2014 Took me a bit but I finally found some references on the forum after my brain finally cooked up the search query "exhaust trail". http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=122410 As said in the thread: use notepad++ (it doesn't work otherwise) to open 'exhaustTrailAir.lua' (DCS World\Config\Effects\ParticleSystem2) and then change the particle level and distance to your preferences. Finally my fps is back in business : D Thanks all!

Jay1980 Posted July 27, 2014 Author Posted July 27, 2014 Really big problem: For me it did a lot of good when I reduced the particle effect in the 'exhaustTrailAir.lua' (see earlier post)... This didn't help for you?
Ragnarok Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Yes, it is. Here is my mod for this. But exhaustTrailAir.lua is a list of integrity chack on more dedicated servers, and I am multiplayer pilot :smilewink:Dim motora - redukovanje.zip “The people will believe what the media tells them they believe.” — George Orwell
LFCChameleon_Silk Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 doesn't turning off heat blur in options make that effect stop?
Jay1980 Posted July 27, 2014 Author Posted July 27, 2014 Heat blur didn't make any noticeable difference for me - just the smoke trail messing things up. I hope they got it fixed by the time I can handle multiplayer (NOOB!) : )
